Having purple blood

Is it normal to
have purple blood.
I cut myself on accident, and my blood was purple, like blackberry or pickled beet juice.
I cut myself again, this time in a completely different place, to make sure this wasn't oxygen deprivation or anything...still bright purple.(First cut was on my face, second cut was on my arm.)
Normality?

Wait I have the same thing. My dog hit my nose really hard and it started bleeding pretty heavily. But to my suprise my blood was magenta. No joke, my phone was in the way of the splashing and on the case (which was white) it was magenta, as was it on my hands and clothes.

i found this because i was trying to find out if its normal. i was at the doctors getting my blood drawn and it was the same color. the Dr didn't say anything so i guess its probably normal. if it not normal mine might be because i have an under active thyroid gland. maybe mines because of that or because of the medicine i take for it.

If this is real, you might have some sort of blood condition. You should see a doctor.

Oxygenated blood (from the arteries) is bright red. This is due to oxygenated iron in the red blood cells.

De-oxygenated blood (from the veins) is a dark red.
Maybe you are mistaking this dark red for purple due to the lighting in which you saw it?

you should check with your doctor and see if he diagnoses you with a condition called methemoglobinemia.
