Have you lost (through death) someone you dearly loved?

I was wondering how many of users here have experienced the lost of someone they really cared for. Have you finished grieving? Is it still hard to think about the lost one?

I'm asking because I've lost someone some years ago and her thoughts still bring tears to my eyes.

    Yes.

It never stops hurting, but you cope. For some reason, I've been remembering him more the last six months.

    I miss him.

Yes, my grandmother, my sister, my brother and my mother. As time goes on, it becomes easier to recall the happy memories without agony, but the loss never fades completely.

It's difficult to find the courage to love people again, but remember that we don't get buried with them. We're still walking this green earth and deserve to feel happiness. Don't let your grief consume you.

My best friend died of a heart disease when I was 16. She didn't come to school for a very long time since 9th grade, then she called me one day in a weak voice that she was staying at the hospital, and she couldn't come to school anymore. I visited her every weekend until she passed away 2 years later. She was so kind and caring for all of my other friends, and I can never forget her. I am proud to have been her best friend.

Thank you, I love being somewhere where other people can share their memories and thoughts and help everyone around them. And you are one of the best people who can make us feel welcome :)

I know but I'd rather die myself before I have to lose them.

It stings for a long time, but turns slowly into a dull ache that never goes away.

    You'll learn to cope.

Yes, I have. I lost my great-grandmother whom I never got the pleasure to meet, one of my uncles, and one of my aunts. I lost my great-grandmother to emphysema, and my aunt and uncle to cancer.

My Grandmother, whom I hold in as high a regard as Christ himself. I feel privileged that she was around and so prominent in my life for as long as she was.

My good friend, Momma Faye. She was one of the sweetest and most caring people I have ever met and I am thankful to have known her.

My ex-girlfriend (we had a weird and complicated relationship, but I loved her a lot) died a year and a half ago; it was either suicide or alcohol poisoning. Only her family knows. We'd barely talked in the year before she died, but it still hurts like hell sometimes.
