I saw it when it first came out in theaters and have watched it many times since. It's one of my favourite films; I felt an instantaneous connection with the main character through her idiosyncratic behaviours and perception of others. Plus, Audrey Tautou is gorgeous!!!
No I haven't but I love Chocolat. I just thought of it since you said a french film. This one is just set in France though. Yaa. Anyway...
Is it about the little girl who was too intelligent for her parents and like to read. With parents who were rednecks and the teacher believed in her and was her freind but the mean principle lady just wanted to hurt children. Than in the end they end up defeating the mean priciple and amelias redneck family give her up for adoption to the teacher. Where they believe she will have a better life? Or wrong film?
I loved it!
Awesome actress, awesome images, awesome story and dialogue but most of all awesome soundtrack.
I have indeed! Recently mentioned it on a poll about our favourite movies. I saw it again just last week, was feeling in the mood. I really, really love it. It's cute and quirky and sweet. I can understand why some might find it twee, but I love it.
Oh, and if anyone knows of any similar films, I'm all ears!:)
You may like his other films: "the city of lost children, delicatessan, micmacs. Also a great animated french film called the triplets of belleville. Or you could try a Jacques Tati film called Mon Oncle. Thats all i can think of now to compare it to but if i think of any more i shall return
