A lot. I'm not sure I've seen a thousand but I'll guarantee I've seen more than five hundred. It's a particular interest of mine. I genuinely have encyclopaediae on the subject. If anyone hasn't seen a silent film and fancies giving it a try, I would highly recommend this (from 1921):

I'd recommend the film. It's only twenty something minutes out of your life. If you do have a very short attention span, though:

Bear in mind that trick photography was largely unheard of and most of this is real.

As long as he doesn't say Chaplin was better than Keaton. Chaplin was great, but Keaton was sublime.

He's also got to love Laurel and Hardy. Them's the rules.

I actually did a presentation about Chaplin *as* Chaplin when I was in school, but I do appreciate me some Buster.

Watch the first one. I actually think you may like it. Not everyone would but you probably will.

My parents had a collection of Charlie Chaplin movies that I use to watch when I was a kid.

I adore silent films. I have many favorites, but two that come immediately to mind are Haxan (1922) and Metropolis. I highly recommend both, but for the silent films newbie, I would go for Metropolis first. There was also a silent version of The Wizard of Oz which was decent, though mildly racist.

    Actually… 1890s to 1920s would be more accurate. ^__^

I've seen quite a few. Silent films have become a lost art and I miss them:/

I have seen a couple but I do find them a bit difficult to follow, I'm very ADHD so movies are hard for me.
