Yes, but ever since seeing the Harry Potter films I've always wanted to go ride on an old fashioned steam powered train.
No, I have not. I would really like to someday though. Take some scenic routs across some great country or something on a good vacation.
Trains are great. One of my favourite forms of transport. It's like being on a plane except there's no motion sickness. I hate it if I have to go backwards, though. It feels like my organs are going to get left behind it front of me or something :P
But yeah, I've been on trains loads of times. It's the easiest way to get to pretty much any city from here.
It always bewilders me when I hear people have never been on trains. Train was my daily transport for six years of school, four years of uni and two years of work. I still catch trains at least once a fortnight.
oh its FUN!! we don't regularly use trains here and they are only used when traveling to another city.. in that case I have only traveled via train four to five times.. and I love it!! as compared to planes and cars i prefer this mode of travelling.. as it is far more comfortable and joyous.. we love the way the train goes through the very beautiful and scenic places and oh the tunnels.. the mountains, the rivers and lakes, crops and fields and villagers ... the way we stop in the stations of these beautiful areas.. its FUN!!
I took the train from Ohio to Washington, DC.and it went through WV and VA. I've never seen such beautiful scenery although I have traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway from VA to KY. I realized later that the difference is that in a car you tend to drive in built up areas and villages whereas the railroad gets out where cars can't travel.
Only in Thailand. I loved it too; it was an inexpensive and wonderful way to travel around there. In my home country, Canada, travelling by train is extremely expensive and something I've never attempted. However, I did use the subway (metro) almost daily for years, when I lived in Montreal - which is sort of train-like.
