I personally have not, but I had a male friend in high school who had one and went to the hospital. While sitting in the waiting room, he was seated next to a pregnant woman who had a toddler with her as well. They got to talk and eventually he had let her know that he was there because he had a kidney stone. Her response was "Oh, honey, passing a kidney stone was way worse than giving birth". So, I'd imagine it's probably TERRIBLE.

Nope, but I had a college professor that did. He told us the story of it and actually had the stone in his desk drawer. That thing was spikey and creepy looking. After seeing that I wouldn't want to get one either.

If I ever pass a kidney stone I'm gonna make some bling out of it so I can wear my suffering around my neck.

You can wear it down with acidic drinks. There's also surgery for big ones and laser treatment.

The number of "acidic drinks" you'd need would probably do damage to your digestive tract

"Peeing it out" is NOT the only way to get rid of them and it's irresponsible of you to write this when you obviously haven't checked this out.

They can be dissolved by certain medications and I believe some natural remedies and also by ultrasound, you don't have to wait to pee them out these days.

Well that was a bit of an over reaction, wasn't it? I hope you feel better now.

I haven't had a kidney stone but my daughter has, which is why I know about the options other than waiting to piss it out.

            Have a nice day ........

No but my mum has and she said but was much, much worse than childbirth , her words " after childbirth I didn't think there could be a way to be in even more pain. Until I got kidney stones" then she pulls a dramatic face as if she's remembering an painful memory

The upside of childbirth pain is that your body floods you with hormones to make you forget. Also, it is only temporary pain. You do get breaks. Kidney stones don't do that.

OP - if you are concerned you should do a detox. Parsley is good for kidney and bladder function.

It's just a build up of sediment in the urinary tract. Usually made of calcium, but not always. Check your diet and talk to a doctor if you are concerned. But very preventable, yes.

From what I've now read, due to being scared by this post...they are caused by too much salt and calcium without enough water. But I'm not sure. Also might be genetic.

Yes, I have. I got really sick for about a year, chronic immune problems, including kidney stones and chronic kidney infections, but doctors couldn't figure out why.

My worst one was right on the border for the size that would necessitate surgery.

It's hard to describe the pain. It kinda starts out like a really bad backache, as if you've pulled a muscle, and then the pain just starts to intensify. It's almost like a burning ache. It comes in waves at first then just gets worse and worse and worse until you're in constant pain. When I was at my worst, I couldn't move and I was vomiting from the pain alone.

The common misperception is that the pain comes from passing the stone through the urethra, but the worse part is when it's moving through the kidney...imagine pushing a solid rock right through your organ because that's exactly what's happening.

There are preventive dietary restrictions you can take if you really want to avoid them...and lots of fluids.

Urologists can break them up with sound waves.

If you have it already home remedies are: water, lemon juice, orange juice, basil, nettle leaf tea, pomegranate, kidney beans...

So just read a bit online...Water, drink lots of water and something acidic like orange juice to help make the stone smaller if you have one. I would try to get laser surgery, i couldn't deal with pain like that.

I hear it is painful but its not something I would be afraid of. I accept my fate and work from there to help myself.

i mean since there's no way to really avoid it its not like i have to change my life style because of it and if i was unfortunate enough to get one i would accept my fate

Not that I know of. I have experienced intense pains before, though.
