Just wanted to know if this is common. Didn't find a post this linear on the site so I made one. Additional details about the context are appreciated in the comments obviously. Also do you think it is more common for a girl or a guy to think about it?

Yes, we even had the friends with benefits thing going on before I met my current girlfriend.
We were both lonely, horny and we had known each other for quite some time, so we did quite a lot more than kiss each other. Yet, we are still best friends today.
What we had was fun and intimate and I think it did not take anything away from our friendship. Now we just don't have sex, otherwise it's still the same. We can hang out, drink together, talk about anything, etc...
Tho I must say, I've been lucky to have enjoyed such a relationship. Buddy of mine is still pursued by an ex of his. They used to be friends since childhood, yet his psycho ex still only wants to mess up his life, 10 years later after they ended the relationship.
I've had sex with my best gal friend, we're still good friends. Never really turned into a problem.

Um no. I generally dont have attraction to my friends. There isnt that energy between us. Generally I'd a guy likes me they usisllh make it obvious with dick pics pretty early on wich ruins a chance for friendship. Not the fondness but the dick pic
I don’t think I’ve ever had an opposite sex “best” friend that I didn’t kiss.... I’m still friends with all of them.
