I noticed that people will argue on different websites over things. Sometimes it's a calm, rational debate over a real issue in the world and sometimes it's a pointless name calling feud over something like a television show. It made me wonder if any of you users here have had an argument with someone online. What was it about and what started it?

I don't think a single person who has been on this site for a significant amount of time can say no.
I have, but not in a long time. I adjusted to this net thing and can no longer take people serious enough to argue with. I enjoyed it until I realized that I was only ever repeating myself in various ways when I talked and everything was taken personally. Now I make my point, explain it, and leave. If they still don't get it, their prob.

Haha yes, only a few times, one about gun control in America, one with a user being a dick a while ago and one where a user ripped into another I happened to like and he did it for no reason, usually I'd stay out of it but I couldn't help myself, turns out I wasn't the only one and a few other users stuck up for him too, it was good to see and the moment I started to feel like a member of the iin community
Oh and one outside of iin on Facebook an acquaintance tried to get me to go to a bnp rally to " get the paki's out" he was a dick

Nobody ever wins an argument. They always end with both people still thinking the same opinion.
Plenty of times! Mostly I prefer the calm, reasonable debate but sometimes people are so bloody stupid that I know nothing I say will ever change their opinion. (Things such as religion and homophobia just to mention two things)

On this site, I've only had a few debates (on racism, sexism - the usual) and they mostly end in the other person abruptly deciding to not reply anymore.
They're always engaging and (sometimes) civil though. It's interesting to see other people's opinions and how they will reply to something you say.
Yes, I have unfortunately. Here's a few I recall: overpopulation/ people adopting kids rather than having them, not thinking childbirth is a miracle, and getting angry at someone for insulting one of my stories (not one of my IIN ones mind you but a personal story I came up with).
