Just curious how often people do this. I've only given my number out once, and it was to someone I talked to for years when I was a teen. Now I don't really talk to people on the internet like that.

No, but my friend gave out my number to someone he knew for the laugh. I ended up texting them for weeks and letting them know that I was watching them shower. Always watching.
Yeah, the last time I did it was in a game. We had a nice little group that had played together for ages. The people from the same country knew each other in real life. My group from England were all RL friends before the game, same as a group from Holland, Denmark, Kuwait, and Russia. We all trusted each other and we felt like a group of friends, just that some of us had never met.
The person I gave my number to ended up phoning me at 3am during blazing rows with her boyfriend and dragged me into the middle of it by saying she was going to come and live with me. Fun fun fun.

I haven't but I'd consider giving it to someone I knew very well online, but I'd probably talk and video chat over Skype first, before giving out my number. This isn't the 90s anymore, most people looking for relationships online are not pedos or sex offenders and you can tell who someone really is with a video chat.

There was a forum I used to hang out on as a user names "Skyling". It was an online gaming forum that I found when I was looking up cheats for a Love Hina dating game so I could get all of the girls naked. Yeah.
Anyway, I found the forum and you had to be an active member in the forum to get all of the cheat codes. I had tons of spare time so I became an active member and quickly became popular among the regular members. We all had MSN Messengers and we regularly held group chat sessions to keep the discussions free of little shit-bag trolls.
Eventually we got very familiar with each other (a group of around ten people) and we shared very intimate information. During this point in my life, my Mom was being very abusive to me, I had just told me father that I had seen my Mom having sex with her employee and I had also just moved into another state, so I had no friends to help me deal with my reality which was practically crumbling. But I had these guys.
7 years later, we are all on each other's facebooks. We still talk to each other and despite the fact that we have never met each other in real life, it feels like we have. It almost makes no difference and I know that if I were ever in their area, we'd meet and it would not feel like the first time. Billy is going back to college, Annie just had a baby... Eddie is still an argumentative little libertarian ass... :)

I was young and naive. I generally think this man is a sex offender. Five years on he still tries to text me and is desperate to see me. He offered to buy me expensive things when I was a very young girl in exchange for sex and/or a relationship. I have felt bad for him and let him down gently once I grew older and wiser. But as a typical weirdo, he still carried on. I then got angry and told him I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole because he is the most ugliest, repulsive, disgusting thing I have ever met in my life. But like a typical weirdo, he STILL texts me weird things like he's going me meet me one day and give me a big kiss. I have threatened him with police action, since I was underage at one point. Why won't he do it to other little girls too?
Never again. This man has caused me hassle and annoyance for five whole years. I was waiting for someone in a cafe a few weeks back and he text me saying he can see me, which resulted me having a panic attack. I don't think you should trust everyone totally at face value.
I would only give my number out online again if I have the person on facebook, we have many mutual friends and there is enough information and photos of themselves on their profile proving who they are and that they have a good reputation. But I still wouldn't feel the need to. I would rather go out, meet people face to face and then decide to give my number out like the good old days.
Thanks :) it's just more of an annoyance than anything else. Although I may contact the police next time just in case he does the same to any young teenage girls. Rather prevent him. A young girl may feel flattered and may actually meet up to have sex with him then I would feel guilty because I could have stopped that.

thats foolish if you dont really know the person good and you give the no. ... but if you get to know the person at a good extent and you talk alot then thats obvious that you one day give your no.
