I was thinking of pawning stuff when I needed money for drugs. Never did it though, been clean for a year and a half now.
I pwn n00bs all the time.
But no seriously, I don't pawn, I sell straight up or "fleabay" it.
No, but I spent a lot of time in a pawn shop because my ex was a pawn star.
It was pretty depressing, to be honest. They had "regulars". Something I didn't really expect. I don't really want to talk about that side of it.
In terms of items, though, they had to evacuate and lock the shop when some guy brought in a Rolex Oyster from the late 1940s. Was probably worth about £10k. They gave him £4k and he accepted it.
The worst items were all jewelry. Stuff you get for 99p at the seaside and which someone assumes it worth something. Although a woman did try to pawn her stuffed cat.
Pawn shops were the only place people could get credit not so long ago. There weren't credit cards etc..
I pawned a turntable (you play vinyl records on) for more than I had paid for it once and bought a far better used one at the same place. I've bought estate jewelry and musical instruments since. I'm in a big city and love poking around these stores. So interesting.
Yes. My father in law gave us this crazy old stereo system that was too much for our space. And it drained so much electricity it wasn't worth it. So off to the pawn shop we went.
Also, my engagement ring came from a pawn shop. It might sound weird but I love the fact that it wasn't new.
I pawned a keyboard and a metal detector for 60 bucks so i could eat something besides a can of corn. Happy?
Ive never had good experiences I tried to pawn a one carat diamond ring once. They offered me fifty bucks and told me it wasn't real. I pulled out my certificate I got from the jeweler stating its size clarity etc and they went....oh...and offered me seventyfive. This ring cost thousands. I kept it.
No, I always heard that people get shitty prices at pawn shops, and everything in there is cheep as balls, kinda turned me off on the whole thing!
That's two different questions. Which do you want me to answer? Pawning something and selling something to a pawn shop are different things.
