Sure, I've found some pretty interesting stuff at Goodwill and Salvation Army. Underwear is the only exception. I prefer off-price retail stores like Ross and TJ Maxx, though.

They're big business in Ireland and a lot of stuff left in is brand new. Personally I buy books and the odd cd, or their charity birthday / Christmas cards/

What about ebay, a lot of that stuff is second hand?

Yes. I also give away really good clothes that have hardly been worn, and some impulse buys, that have never been worn. I have seen famous people in these shops too. UK has many charity shops and it is not frowned upon to be donating to charity in your own spare time, rather than flashing it for everyone to see and applaud. I have been using them for 30yrs and have got some great bargains and household goods. Sold some on Ebay years later and got big bucks in return. Why waste ?

A lot of new clothes are made rather poorly and of cheap materials. I often get clothes at thrift stores or consignment stores.

  • To be perfectly honest the new clothes nowadays are getting to scene, second hand shops tend to have the best jackets. I have purchased two good jackets from one of them before.

I do not like to have secondhand clothes. I don't know why but I have always felt like it wasn't clean. I know better, but still they never felt like they were mine.
This was different with hand-me-downs from my brother. I could deal with that. I don't know why it bothers me. I have never been bothered by purchasing antiques, dishes etc. though. Just clothes.

I really love buying my clothes in second-hand stores and junk shops ! I've been wearing some of them for ages! As long as I find them beautiful, it's okay and I make good deals at the same time.

They usually have crappy cloth that is too small. So no I do not buy them.

I'm proud to say "yes I do shop in charity shops". I think they're amazing and you never know what you're going to find. There's absolutly no shame at all in helping charities xx

I have! In fact, when I was studying in Japan, I wanted to buy an Engrish T-shirt as a souvenir and spent forever hunting for one that I liked.

The one I got in the end came from a recycle shop and fits REALLY well, and has kept its shape too. The Engrish isn't that obvious unless you look closely, and it has a cute design that reminds me of the sort of thing that was popular in the late 90s/early 00s.

In my native England, I often use eBay and I like looking in charity shops. I've got some good books and music from various ones, and even found a pair of Miss Sixty jeans for £7!

I see nothing wrong with it, but I just don't.
I shop at stores like T.J. Maxx and stuff. So its not super expensive / and very cute.

I was in thrift stores several times a week when I was in high school (in the mid 90's). Most of the ones I went to aren't there anymore. I bought all sorts of crap. I still have some of the shirts I got, and some 60's-70's kitchen stuff. Like the olive green and mustard yellow ceramic canisters. Love that crap!

Oh, I LOVE vintage kitchen stuff!! I found a few amazing canister sets!! I recently noticed that one I have is exactly the same one that is in Marie and Frank Barone's (Everybody Loves Raymond) kitchen!! It's chrome, and it's a box with pull-out compartments for the different things.

I have a Betty Crocker cookbook that was my grandmother's, it's so amazing to look at becuase it has so much more than recipes. It talks about the 'woman's role' and all kinds of interesting things. It really makes you appreciate how things are today, and the modern conveniences we have in the kitchen!!

I also ended up with the first ever Radarange microwave oven cookbook. It was my great aunt's, she actually bought the microwave way back then when it first came out for home use, the book had the warranty card still in it from when she bought it. It's just so cool to look through it, the pictures are absolutely disgusting looking, and the microwave was such a piece of crap compared to what we have now.

My mom got her first microwave in the 80's and it came with a big hardcover cookbook too. It's weird to think people actually wanted to or did cook most things in a microwave. Well, I guess they tried back then and figured out how gross it was, and they finally stopped including cookbooks!! I just use the microwave to re-heat or to steam veggies really. I'd never try to make a meal in there!!

Anyway, sorry for rambling...I get overly excited about shit sometimes....

I have a few times, when I saw something I really liked in the window display, a dress once and even a good as new pair of shoes another time. I've also got some 1960s print scarves. I really hate paying over the odds for things and often frequent discount shops. Who cares if it's last season's.

I rarely find clothes I like in second hand shops, mainly because I have a very unique style. I recently bought some candle holders from a second hand shop :D

I have before, but only just small things like boring shirts, and not very often even then, but I don't want to buy something new and expensive if I can get it cheaper somewhere else (not to mention the other benefits, such as supporting a charity and helping the environment).

I bought something once, but it was for a costume party. I don't go there regularly. The clothes smell like shit and probably belonged to old people who died and had all of their belongings dumped in front of salvos.
