Have you ever been unsure being 1st to comment on a serious story?

When I read a story that's serious and no one has commented yet I like to wait and see if someone will comment first. I don't want to give bad advice or say something wrong. Sometimes parts of the story sound unbelievable and I don't want to waste my time and concern on a troll. If no one ends up commenting after a while though I just go ahead and comment.

I'll do that too especially on a story I have no experience with whatsoever. Even then I probably won't comment..I'll just read what other people say and think, "Oh yeah, that makes sense," log it into my brain on what to do if that situation ever occurs, and move on.

Yes I often dislike being first to reply. Since sometimes I do not really know what to say and I reply off what other people have said.

I never hesitate to be the first one to comment on a serious story if I feel that I can give some good advice because I know that if there is something I missed, or if people disagree with what I said, most likely, somebody else will also comment on that story and add something that I left out or correct me if they think I'm wrong.

I comment on any story that catches my eye, serious or not.

    No, not at all.

Not at all. I'll respond to a story in exactly the same way whether others have commented or not, and also regardless of what others have said. If my post was anonymous, I'd still post the same way. I'm confident enough in what I say to feel able to say it in any circumstance (even when I'm wrong). People are too afraid of being wrong, but that's another issue.
