Yes, I have. My home town throws a very popular rodeo and fall fair every September. When I lived there, I would go every year.
Parts of the rodeo itself are hard on the animals (just a lot of stress for them, there are rarely bad accidents). Most of the rodeo activities have roots in ranching and the ability to train and handle livestock and horses.
