I've always been the one to do the ditching.

I was friends with a handful of people on this one forum. There were these two guys who really liked me.

One of them even wanted to be my boyfriend, but I knew it wouldn't work out in the long run because we had conflicting ideas about our futures, and he was extremely talkative and never asked how I was doing.

The other guy I was friends with, we had a few things in common when we first started talking, and he treated me very kindly. Unfortunately, he was also very clingy (getting mad at me whenever I failed to log on every day) and over time our interests changed so that we didn't have anything in common anymore.

I broke off contact with both of them in a really ugly fashion, sending them scathing messages telling them never to talk to me again. (I had tried ignoring them in the past, but they had been extremely persistent).

I quit the forum altogether after that, because all three of us were such prominent members that I knew there could be backlash if I stayed.

Yes, I did once. She convinced herself she was in love with me. I told her she could find someone special (not me), and I just gradually broke contact with her. She was a good online friend, and I helped talk her through some difficult times... She also had a guy friend that she was friends with for a long time since childhood. I could tell that he really cared about her even though I'd never met him. She also had feelings for him, but she wouldn't allow herself to pursue a relationship. I may have had a little to do with this, but that's also kind of why I broke things off.

I'd like to think that she finally gave him a chance and they are still together now.

I'm usually the ditcher, rather than the ditched.

I once had a Russian pen-pal/online friend, we wrote each other letters for years. But as I grew up, I realised she was insufferably self-centered, and we disagreed on a lot of things (homosexuality, politics - especially Putin and Western-style democracy, religion, music and so on). So one day I just said I couldn't be bothered with it.

Also had a Hungarian pen-pal who I ditched, more out of laziness than anything. I had friends on this online forum, but I got bored with it and left. I had friends I used to chat with on Skype, but again I got bored and ditched them.

I've never ditched a close friend - it's more that I ditch people once we grow so far apart the term 'friend' seems inaccurately strong.

Yes, he didn't reply to me for days, so now I will not reply to him. Even if he tries to talk to me.

I've ended quite a few online friendships from websites like Meez, YouTube, MySpace, Fanfiction.net, and DeviantArt. Aside from getting banned from DeviantArt for doing nothing wrong, I left those websites because I was either bored with the site or just annoyed with the people on them.

I left deviantart because it became filled with mylittlepony art. Not interested...

I honestly didn't mind the MLP art. Though I did find the fetish borderline porn art some of the users made of it a bit disturbing.

Are you going to stuff me with cheese and cook me in a microwave if I try? I don't taste very good and covering my corpse's nasty flavor with a variety of 36 different cheeses won't be enough to mask it.

Thank you, hi. But this is an anonymous site, I would assume that people actually get to know one another, from what I understand.
As a head of the 60's, I find it extremely difficult to put myself out there. I've had a three PO Box security ring around me almost my adult life. I live as a bohemian and keep a very, very low profile.

Sorry friend, but I have selected you.

I have breached your three PO Box security ring with my love.

You are my friend now, whether you like it or not.

If I throw a sky hook, could you catch it? Or are you in 'Space, Above and Beyond'?
Security falters and old habits die slowly. Could it be, could it be?

Yes. I left that bitch and never looked back at him. I actually meet him here. We talked for a few days, and then I started to ignore him because he was ignoring me first and now idec anymore because he is a bitch for ignoring me, but if he sees this and asks me later I will say "Whaaaaat, No..." and he'll never know.

    Muahahaha.

I am glad I can get this off my chest. I have ditched a few people in my online past, some who I had lengthy conversations with. However, they became too clingy, were either too obnoxious or just too far away that I thought conversing with them wasn't 'real' enough for me. I feel bad about it because they said they really like talking to me, however, I always let them down easy...

I've both been ditched by online friends a few times and ditched a few online friends when I realized the friendship wasn't healthy for me.

Few times yeah. but i've done some ditching too, i guess. They were also penpals or language exchange friends. I feel pretty terrible about one i knew who was from Crimea, shortly before all the shit happened. He sent me a few letters/cards. we barely understood each other but were trying to learn. I couldn't even read much of the letters he sent because they are in russian of course, and cursive (cyrillic) at that; and i've been too busy/lazy to continue studying it. i don't go on skype much anymore and the last i heard from him was that his town became part of russia,he said he was happy it did, though.
