I have been twice in the past 5 years!! But I don't personally know of a single other person who has even once!

    I wouldnt trust the government. Not even to monitor stupid t.v. ratings.

      Nielsen is not a government agency. It's a private company paid by the networks and advertisers for the information that they collect.

    My family was, when I was about 10. It was the English equivalent of the Nielsen thing and it didn't include a box to put on the TV (which I think you have). Ours was just like a really blandly printed TV guide listing with a tickbox next to each programme. We did it for a week then someone came to the door and took the sheet away again.

    When I talked about it at school, no-one believed me because it had never happened to them.

      They gave me books to keep a log of what we watched on each TV in my house and when the week was up I just dropped them in the mail. They also paid me $30 cash which was sweet! The previous time it was only $15!

    My family did it for a week, except instead of tv, it was internet usage. we downloaded a program that monitered where we went online. it started messing with our computer, so we cancelled it.

      Actually that sounds like a really bad idea. I'd never voluntarily install software that monitored my Internet activity. You cannot be completely sure what information they collect or how they use it.

    When I was 8 my family was chosen. The format was excatlly like "Dappled's". I am Canadian and we also received a plain TV Guide set-up and also put a tick box by our chosen programmes.
