Have you ever been called a pet?

Pet means one of the following. A person who is a slave to another person and will do anything to please them(that choose to be in that position). An animal kept for a persons amusement and companionship. A term of endearment. In Sweeney Todd he refers to both Miss lovette and his daughter as "his pet". So the question is "Have you ever been called a pet"? as a sign of endearment. Not in the first two ways.

    Yes. The context and the person saying it were the things that effected whether I was bothered by it. Being called it by a old lady who calls everyone "pet" is much better than being called it by an emotionally manipulative girlfriend who dedicated a lot of effort into harvesting an unhealthy dependency on her, because the undertones are different.

    Nope, I live in America but I know "pet" is a term of endearment in the UK. I think it's cute :)

    Never been called a pet. They called me "Bear" in school. Strong, mostly calm, but when angry - stay away XD
    I like my nickname and sort of stuck with it. Sometimes friends still call me Bear. Girlfriend called me "Bear" a few times, though it was more of a "Teddy" thing this time. "Baerchen" in german. Kinda like a bear cub, but a little bigger.

    But a pet, no.

    My ex thought I acted like a cat and she hated them. I guess that's partly why she's my ex.
