No, of course not. Why would I go up to a stranger and ask to touch their hair? It's highly inappropriate. I don't have a burning curiosity.

Why are all black people "strangers" to you? Are they not good enough to be acquainted with you? Do you actively try to avoid their race?

No, not at all. In fact, my best friend is black. I have felt her hair, although funnily enough, she asked me to (she'd just got a new hair cut). It's why I don't have a burning desire, not that I had much of one in the first place.

And I made the assumption that it would be a stranger, because touching a friend's hair isn't really the same thing. I chose the word stranger deliberately, just to emphasise that I wouldn't do this to anyone who I consider a stranger. It clearly didn't come across the way I intended it too, though. Either way, don't turn this into something it's not.

Lmao, I hope they were playing...but the OP didn't say stranger or no stranger. I guess anyone with a black friend would never have to ask a stranger. I do my friends hair all the time so for me I know what it feels like, but if I grew up somewhere, where there weren't many black people, and I had no black friends hair to touch....damn straight I'd ask a stranger. I'd be like 'Hi...im white and have never touched a black persons hair, may I feel?' Bet you they would be honored to let you feel their hair...they'd be like 'Whaaa?!? That's crazy girl, touch my hair. It's bomb huh?' 'Damn sure is.' I say this because I've had black people ask to touch my hair before, and I was more than happy to let them. It's human nature to be curious, and I think it helps us appreciate our differences. All the black people that have touched my hair really like playing with it, and I love playing with their hair. It's different.

But it would be extremely ruda and evasive if you did it without asking...just wanted to add that.

No, I didn't want to touch it. I could imagine how it feels, anyway. but when I was in school there was this ornery black girl that sat behind me in class and one day out of no where she just started gently stroking my hair for a few minutes without ever a word. I was really shy so I didn't turn around or say anything because i was kind of afraid of her (she yelled a lot, but meant well I guess), and honestly it felt quite nice, so we both just sort of pretended like nothing even happened. after that she was always somewhat nicer to me though

Back when my hair had more of a fro texture, white girls would ask to feel it. I use to be somewhat ok with it but realized that they were petting like some sort of dog and they ended up being rude about it with passive aggressive comments. I no longer allow other people to touch my hair. I'm not some odd curly haired freak here from other people's entertainment. Its offensive.

Ugh, no, that would be really weird and rude.

    • Why rude? It's natural and good to be curious and to explore the world. I wouldn't be offended if someone asked to touch my hair.

I actually read the title as,"Have you ever asked a black person if you could touch their butt". Is this a sign that I need to eat or that I need to sleep? To aster your question: No. I have NEVER EVER asked to touch a stranger's hair at least from what I can remember.
