Have you been a victim of black on white racism?

I get it all the time. Just yesterday I was at the grocery store buying some collard greens and random black guy walks up to me and says "whatchu know 'bout collard greens?". This same exact thing has happened several times. I'm sick of it. White people aren't allowed to buy certain things? WTF?

Please tell about times you've been victimized.

There are worse things in life than having a random black guy question your knowledge of collard greens.

It's very hard for me to imagine any white person being offended by this.

No matter whom the comments are directed toward, they are unacceptable. I don't believe anyone should apologize for actions taken by their predecessors, however, I do believe that white privilege should be addressed. Take a look at the school systems (including colleges), prisons, neighborhoods, the workforce, etc., there's a huge imbalance! No matter how hard you try to be accepting and indiscriminate, there's a chance you're still perpetuating a society that caters to white people without even realizing it by just living your life and taking that privilege for granted.

lol when obama was elected for the first time there was a bunch of black kids in the hallway at my high school yelling at every white person to go by "I bet you voted for mccain didn't you? well haha!! we won" or some shite like that, but our school was about 48% black so they were always picking on white people because they knew we wouldn't stand up for ourselves since the blacks would fight back in groups and call racism on everything. also, these black kids in the back of my science class told my (white) friend to say "nigger" and when he did they all started yelling unintelligably and throwing money around (as aparently they bet on whether he would say it or not) and a couple of them had to get sent out for going crazy even though they asked him to say it.

    "Whatchu know 'bout collard greens?"

    *runs away*
"Hey I just wanted to know the quickest way to cook them! What the fuck? Crazy white people..."

Not that it bothers me, but I've been called 'skinny little white chick', like somehow that was meant to be offensive.

    Yes.
Welcome to the New South Africa - where blacks will go as far as mass-murdering whites just because they're white.

And those that don't kill will go out of their way to offend white people, yet have the cheek to call white white people racist for any trivial non-racial matter that they dislike.

How did this turn into a food discussion?

It's been deemed socially acceptable to practice prejudice on white people in the US. (I don't know about other countries.) I don't see this lasting too long, however, because we're getting pretty tired of being picked on and told that we should be ashamed of our skin. I, for one, am an indual who has made individual decisions, and my actions reflect so. I'm not going to tolerate being told that I am a bully, or a jerk, or I don't know how to do something, because I am white. That is Not what my actions have reflected. I only have in common with certain white individuals the color of my skin. I won't say sorry for things I had nothing to do with on my own behalf. They aren't my actions to apologize for. Iif someone has a problem with that- well, "They can kiss my white ass!"

Right, racism is always stupid. Never justified. But almost everyone experiences it and is victimized by it to some extent. White people don't have it too bad in the US. Our country was founded by white people. So you can take your bitching to the mother of Treyvon Martin or to Martin Luther King's ghost. I'm sure they want to hear about how hard it is to have people discriminate against you as a white person.

You're right. I should stop my complaining. I should shut my mouth because others have had it worse. That's it, right? Settle for being slapped because that guy over there got kicked.
Oh wait- except that's not even what's happening. Why don't you go tell the white kids who live in the projects to stop their bitching? Or the white guy who's more qualified for a job than his hispanic counterpart who got the job? Or maybe you can tell the black panthers that they're 'not as bad' because we're white?

For the record, M.L.K. fought for equality- he wouldn't be okay with a white guy getting picked on because of skin pigment. He would stand up for him. He wasn't a spokesman for just 'black' rights. So I'd love to converse with him.
As for Treyvon Martin, they're have been plenty of white kids who were blatantly killed over race- they just don't make headlines.
They are obviously people who know what it's like to be attacked over race, so I'm pretty sure they'd understand the anger.

The fact of the matter is that, in the US, whites are the majority. Especially when it comes to positions of power. Indo-European/white, protestant males have held the most power in our country throughout our history. Minorities are victimized the most. Go grab some statistics and show me how often the Hispanic man gets the job over the equally qualified white man because of race. If it weren't for affirmative action, that would never happen. The inverse is true much more often than not. Minorities are definitely getting kicked while whites are being slapped, on average, if you're speaking of how most people are victimized by racism.

Still, thats not my point. I said racism is always wrong. MLK was not the same as Malcom X. He truly advocated total equality. Whether you're being slapped or kicked, its always wrong. I understand.

However, my point is that I would be pissed if I were kicked and then had to listen to someone else complain about being slapped.

I've been a victim of black racism. Mostly just comments and bullying. And a few times I've been physically attacked by blacks solely because I am white.

When I ignore homeless people and thugs and other people who solicit my attention on the streets of downtown Atlanta I get called racist. Maybe I am, I mean if a well groomed white guy tried to get my attention on the streets of ATL I would probably stop and listen...

    • Not if you cook them right. Cook up some diced bacon and a bit of onion-leave in a lot of the grease then drop in some blackeye peas, add vinegar, brown sugar, seasoned salt to your taste. Let it simmer for 20-30 minutes. Chop up the greens, I take out the stem too. Add them and cook until they are well wilted and have taken on the flavor and lost the bitterness, generally about 30 minutes. Yumm yum.
