Have no sex drive most of the time anymore

In the past 6 months to a year, I've had almost no sex drive whatsoever for the majority of the time, along with ed. Then once every long while, like once every 1 to 2 months, I will regain a semi weak drive back. But it's still well below normal. I'm just curious on what makes even that come back, like if it's something I ate or something. That's what's happened to me in the past couple of days, but I know it'll disappear into nothing again like it has every other time. Like I said, my drive is now dead like 95% of the time, and returns as semi-weak the other 5%, anyone have any ideas why? My doctor thought it's a combination of aging and medications I take the last time I shared it at my doctor appointment

I've had medications give me a limp noodle. A lot of SSRIs do this to you. If you absolutely need to be on said medications giving you this low sex drive you should ask your doctor to give you erection pills to counteract.

Also, you neglected to mention your age so.. that could be a factor. But, I'm 33, and still about as horny as I ever was, with no problem getting it up. My diet is probably worse than yours. Well, less sweets (cause I'm not a fan) but also less fruits (don't like much fruit aside from a select few.) But I do eat my veggies.

    • I'm 45 in one month. My drive was alot stronger than now when I was 33. I've had Viagra a couple times in past year but it didn't help much. And limp noodle is the right term when yesterday I looked up a few of the porn stars I used to watch more often, it was the first time I even looked at porn in a couple of months and I only did that because I felt a little bit of drive coming back. But once looking through it, I found that the drive that came back still wasn't enough to get me erect

I was going to suggest it could be a medication side effect before I even read the last sentence.

This is anecdotal evidence but I’m in a lot of Facebook advice groups and when people talk about loss of libido most of the time it boils down to depression, medication or (ironically) depression medication.

    • You're most likely correct. I'm pretty sure that it's the medications I take, and the health issues that I have. Unfortunately, fixing those issues and stopping the medications is not that easy to just do. Aside from doctors, on here on websites is the better place to share this kind of issue because talking to people (acquaintances, neighbors, etc.) that I'll have to go and face in person would be something that I'd just find more awkward.

Damn I'm sorry to hear that, my sex drive has been an all time high. Found me a really good man.

    • Glad to hear that. Would you have any guesses on why my drive has been dead most of the time, but then comes back a little bit (but still not quite to normal levels) for a short time once in a while? I'm wondering if it may be something I've eaten, but I can't figure out what.

Could be mental block, have you been stressed about anything?

If you are a man I reccomend asking for viagra. Maybe a small dosage idk how it works. Maybe a little kickstart is all you need to get the engine running. I'm sorry I cant really help

        • I've tried Viagra, it's not done much for me when I've taken it. And, even though I felt like a little bit of my drive came back the last couple of days, I've just found out when looking up a few of the porn stars I used to watch, I could hardly get it up at all. Which probably means that the same thing will happen whenever I'm next with a woman again. The last couple times I was with a woman when I was feeling just like I have the past couple of days with a little of my sex drive back, I still couldn't get erect when I was with her. I feel that I'm going to have to feel a stronger drive in me than this to be able to fix my erectile disfunction, but I haven't felt my drive being stronger than this in quite a few months now. And, when I'm not having my occasional couple of days where my drive is even to this level, then my drive is almost completely dead. The bigger picture of this issue is most likely my health issues combined with the medications I take. My doctor thought that's most likely it also. Don't worry, I know that there's nothing you can do, if even my doctor can't do much. It just helps to talk about it. And I don't really feel comfortable sharing this with people I know and see in person regularly. But on here, I don't mind so much because I know that I won't have to face people in person on these websites everyday

That's very true, medications are a likely culprit. Shit you use a heartburn drug and you risk bleeding of the ass practically

            • That's true. I take an aspirin a day now, because I'm now 45 and want to try and lesson the chance of heart attack. But sometimes after taking one, I feel a sharpness in my stomach since aspirin is rough on the stomach. But I'd rather protect my heart. I'm also taking Lisinopril, which can also help that, and lowers blood pressure, the latter being the reason it's prescribed to me. And, I take methadone daily. I'm sure the combination of all that is part of my very low drive. That, and being 45 now

  • Took a viagra today, and I still could barely get it up at all. Except a half erection about 2 times for about 3 or 4 seconds each. And those were not normal full erections. And that was after taking a viagra. This is definitely well below normal erectile functioning

I'm going for a penile prostheses, the pump up type, you stay hard until you release the fluid.

Probably low testosterone. Testosterone falls with age.

    • The past couple of days, I've a few different times tried watching some of the pornstars I used to watch, but I just have not been able to get erect from them. So I might as well go back to not trying to use porn to try and get it up, just like I did a couple of months ago when the same thing happened. Can't beat a dead horse, or a dead dick in this case. Not trying to be funny. I sometimes try things numerous times before giving up. I have low testosterone, health issues I've got, two different medications I take which I have read can affect sex drive, and now turning 45 in a month, which I'm pretty sure has contributed to my very low drive and ed. I can accept it alot of the time these days. I'm sure that some men would have more trouble accepting this kind of issue than I am

    • I got a viagra and I still today tried to get it up and I still couldn't, except about 2 times which lasted about 3 or 4 seconds each but even they weren't full erections, and this was it after taking a viagra. This is obviously way below normal level of someone with a normal sex drive

I think you might have something physical wrong with your dick/ hormone balance, dude. I have delayed ejaculation (it's not as fun as it sounds!) And viagra gets me hard for ages. I'm no doctor, but I'm guessing most things psychological regarding it can be helped by viagra.

    What is your diet like?

    • I do wonder if something I've eaten is what has gotten my drive feeling slightly stronger once in awhile. But I still am having ed even when that's happened

    • I eat some red meat, chicken. I'll buy things from the bakery like pie or cake because I have sweet tooth. But, I also buy apples, oranges, grapes, blueberries, strawberries, because I like all those also. Basically, around half the carbs I eat is fruit, and the other half is junk food carbs including the bakery stuff
