Have a nice day!

Do you ever use the expression in parting, "Have a nice day!"

What are your thoughts about it or those who use it?
Do you agree with George Carlin?

All of the time and I really do mean it! Have a nice day! 2
Sometimes, and I mean it when I do. 6
I say it out of habit and don't meant it most of the time. 3
What an odd expression! 2
I only use it sarcastically---as in "Go fuck yourself!" 2

I do use that expression, but not with people I know. I tend to use it towards people in customer service, waiters, gas station attendants, grocery store clerks, but I say it in a non sarcastic way and genuinely mean it. Those jobs are all difficult: they can be high stress, they pay little, and often include customers that don't acknowledge the employee's existence. I think being polite to people goes a long way; hopefully it can make their day a little better.

As some may have noticed on here, I never bother saying things I don't mean and rarely waste my time saying shit just to be nice.
So, if I say, "Have a nice day." you can bet I damn well mean it.

Yeah, I say it often, and I do mean it. Why wouldn't you want someone else to have a nice day?

To be honest I mostly say it to people I have no personal attachment to such as customers from my job, certain coworkers, or strangers. I rarely say it to people I care for because the phrase seems so generic.
