Has is it normal changed your life?

Before i found IIN, i wasn't very confident, and for a lot of things that i did, i didn't think it was normal to do. That made me regret a lot of things i did in life. But after reading countless stories and polls, i feel like im not the only one who does these things and i feel much more confident with everything i do in my life, and my life is so much better now.

So, has this happened to you?

    My life has change for the better. Before, I signed up I was extremely depressed and suicidal. I felt worthless and so many other things. As much as it's hard to contemplate, there's a chance that I wouldn't be here now If I didn't sign up when I did. The site has also made me a different person in more ways than one. I'm very grateful this "sanctuary":)

    Totally! I love foraging for external validation, because I can find no personal merit as an individual! I've learned the important lesson of dependence on others to legitimize my actions. Otherwise I'm unsure of what to think! What is my worth as a singular entity? Who cares! The faceless mass has justified my existence!

    Slightly. I've just read back over my first twenty or so responses. I was more helpful back then. But then, lots of people were. Maybe I just joined at a good time. Or a good time for me personally. Different people use IIN for different reasons.

    I love this site. Iv found that I'm not such a bitch about certain things because I admired how some people just always seemed to be so kind and understanding, and took the time to give well thought out, knowledgable, comforting advice. And I thought, hey, I am a good and nice person, so why not chill out a bit more and try to be more helpful. I can still be a major bitch, but I'm a lot better. I love you guys!!! I never really cared whether I was 'normal' or not, but its good to know I'm not alone on some things. I'm working right now so I can't quite write all that I'd like to. Try cleaning a house and phone-type at the same time!

      I don't get it either. No sarcasm involved. I just don't get it. Although my dialect says "normality" instead of "normalcy" so we could have a dust-up about that, not that I see any point in debating what is effectively the same thing. But yeah, I really don't get it.

        Wanting to know whether something is normal is not the same as wanting to be normal. Even if you want to be different, you require knowledge of what is normal to achieve that goal.

        That said, I think there is an innate human desire to fit in (and to be curious) and that's what drives a most of the action here on IIN.

          I guess so. I do see lots of people acting a certain way because the majority are doing it. And I really don't get it. I hate being misunderstood and deliberately sending out a message that I don't believe seems like a recipe for disaster. For me, anyway.

          But then, being too honest is also a problem when you have no idea who is reading. There are some complete nutters out there. Some very emotionally disturbed people. Maybe it'd have been better if I kept my trap shut more often.

          I really learned some things in my time here.

          Sure, but isn't grasping for uniqueness just as human? Doesn't that fuel just as much of our actions? It's a level dichotomy to me, but normality always seems to triumph.

    I think IIN has helped me stay one step ahead of my teenager and realise the black vs white attitude is just hormonal. I have been shocked at the 'haters' who attack others and just wish they'd go away - just as we all do in real life.

    Some members are extremely funny and have brilliant quotes, and yes I do care about many of the members and their problems.

    Yes, for a whole load of reasons. In reality, of course, I have no idea how my life would have panned out in the few months that I've been here if I wasn't here, but I imagine it would have been a whole lot more unpleasent than if I found this site, which luckily I did. I've found some wonderful people, who, if I met in real-life, I think I could honestly call friends. In fact, I love all you guys!

    Yes. Without IIN, my life would be much worse than it is now, IIN really helped me get my life together and helped me make important decisions I would have never been able to make myself. Thanks IIN :)

    No it has not. I am the same person no matter what. However this is the only thing keeping me sane at the moment. I can not discuss anything or say anything I am thinking to people in real life. No one cares what I have to say. Not that I expect anyone on here to care either. I will just go through life a ghost and no one will miss me.

    This is a fantastic website and there's a lot of interesting people on here, however trolls and jerks always have to mess it up. I got into two or three heated arguments since I joined and I'm not on a whole lot.

    When I first stumbled upon this site, I couldn't believe the kind of stories I kept finding, so many describing the exact same thoughts, strange habits and sensations that I've had at some point. I even found someone who had the same disturbing nightmare as a child that I'd had. So weird! I can't even explain how reassuring it is that whatever you're going through, it seems that someone somewhere has already experienced it. All in all, it's made me feel a lot more normal!
