Has anyone here tried hypnosis for weightloss?

I have been trying to lose weight for years. My body disgusts me and I want to be healthy. I work out, I eat right most of the time but I always slip up. I was raised in a family with bad eating habits and my mom covered her inadequacies as a parent by giving me and my brother junk food. I have depression and a thyroid problem. I take metformin (for blood sugar levels) and a thyroid hormone. I am not diabetic and I'm terrified of getting to that point.

It just feels like no matter what my best intentions, I let myself down. When it comes to food, I often can't moderate myself.

So having tried all the rest, I am thinking of turning to hypnosis. I was wondering if anyone out there has tried it. If it's only going to be a waste of time and money, I might as well skip it and keep trying the way I have been (effort is better than nothing, right?)

Oh and any abuse I get on here for being fat is nothing to me. You think I don't despise myself enough for what I've let myself become and that I just can't make any progress in changing?

Yes, it worked 2

Hypnotism, if it's real, effects your psychology. Not your fat conserving systems. There's no possible way it could work effectively.

I don't see how it could possibly work, especially since you could be spending that same time exercising instead. Not everything can be done by wanting it hard enough.

    1. diet
    2. work out

That's all there is to it. Stop looking for backdoors.

My friend did hypnosis to quit ciggies but it didn't work. Another friends mother had lap band surgery and lost a pile of weight and looks fantastic. Her sister did it next with great success and now my friend is going to do it.

I don't know much about it so I can't say that you should do it but I would talk to a doctor if I were you.

I dont really think hypnosis would work. Since you say you cant control how much you eat, try drinking a big glass of water before you eat. Your body often cant distinguish between thirst and hunger. Also, NO soda, try to cut down on fatty foods (but dont go for low fat or fat free since they use TONS of chemicals to try to get te flavor back). Those few things should help a lot, they did for me. This past week I've lost around 5 pounds. But then again, im doing a lot of other stuff. If you want more help, message me or comment here. Good luck

I used to go out with a girl who tried it. It worked but only temporarily. It seemed to "wear off" over time and she couldn't afford to go back as often as she'd have needed to. On the upside, she did say that the first couple of days after a session, she felt absolutely fantastic.

I suggest exercising regularly and running - if you can run.

I keep a daily journal of when I eat sweets and how much I eat.

Losing weight is hard work; you need to want it 100% to gain effective results.

I am talking from experience. I wasn't super fat, but I was overweight. It took me a long time to get where I am today and I could not be happier. I am alway working towards bettering and maintaining my body, healthy lifestyle and health.

Start your own daily journal and go to http://www.bodyrock.tv/

This really helped me. You have to set yourself a goal and always motivate yourself. Trust me, when you start this you will not want to stop. It is hard, but when you get to where you want to be you will thank yourself.

My father once tried it. It worked for a while, but he got back into his old eating-habits. I don't know the details though, how many times he went to those sessions or how capable the hypnotist was.
