Has anyone ever gotten a job using online applications?

I'm 21 years old and I'm on my first job search. Yes, I know it's late. I've been mostly filling out online applications, but I just realized that I don't know anyone who got a job using only an online application. Is it even possible to get a job this way?

Yes, I filled out a few and got a job pretty fast 12
Yes, I filled out a lot but I got a job eventually 9
Somewhat, I still had to call/go there for them to look at the app 6
No, online apps didn't work for me, I had to fill out paper apps 13

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

The job I have now I got by filling one out. But that was after 8 months of doing it.

Yes, I filled out an online application and got the job within two weeks. People say they can't find places who hire but if they would just go online, they'd find an abundance of available jobs.

It's 50/50. some places call you back really fast and some don't acknowledge you at all. walking in is always way better and you'll almost always at least get an interview if the first impression is nice

I hate applications on the internet. I spent hours filling out one and than they said "Sorry we don't have any jobs right now" even though it was posted online that they need a job.

You can, but really it's about the people you know in the working class world.

Yes. Every job I've had I've applied online first.

But every time it has been via the job section of a company website, rather than those dedicated job sites you upload your CV (resume) to.

I'd say you're more likely to get a job if you go directly to the employer ( e.g. their website) than through a middleman (e.g. agency / job site).

    • I'm doing them on company websites, too. I've only gotten a few calls back, but none of them were from applications filled on sites like Monster.

The job sections on company websites aren't perfect, though. I called in to a McDonald's after applying to a job posted on their website and they told me they weren't even hiring.

It really depends on your area. The first "real" job I got was from an online application and they called me immediately and set up an interview and rushed me in the door. Sometimes it's not that fast though. It can take awhile for someone to call back. But that's how most companies handle applications these days. online.

Yes, I went to the website of a few places, one of those being the local movie theater, lord and behold I actually got called a few days later to schedule an interview and got the job a few days after that.

Yes: the job I have now.

I applied early one morning, got a phone call at 11 o'clock the same day and an interview the same week.

    Good luck with your applications.
