Hard to study

I graduated from college in 2002. I'm now taking another course, but I am finding it estremely hard to get back into "study" mode. Like seriously, I am having the worst time! I want to do it, but my brain just doesn't seem to want to make an effort. If this normal?

Good point. Don't wanna focus on the words in the songs. But music is good :)

Best songs have no lyrics, just nice soothing music.

Um, by struggle I meant study. Hehe :) I was thinking "struggle to study" and yeah.....about that whole concentration thing.....there you have it!

Haha, thanks! Yeah not always easy studying when you're a "mature" student ;)

I'm the same way. I can't struggle to save my life. Luckily I'm the type that absorbs a lot during lecture so I don't usually need to study a ton. I try to read over my notes right before a test but sometimes I can't even concentrate long enough to read a page. The internet distracts me immensely, too. I've never been good at studying but the older I get, the worse I get so you're not alone!

Quite normal. This happens to me on and off at work all the time. Motivation will come and go like the tides.

I've found that when something really needs to be done and I have to hunker down and do something, I either have to try and create an environment where I have no choice but to study or do the work, OR set mini goals while studying and reward myself along the way.

For example, I'll read a chapter or topic, then quiz myself on the topic, and if I understand it, I'll allow myself to watch an episode of scrubs. Breaking apart the process makes it feel less monotonous and can keep your motivation up, but of course this won't work when you need to cram.

Yeah, I'm struggling too! My concentration has gone out of the window! I've discovered that listening to Bach helps my concentration levels hahaha. Strange but true.

Hmmm, that sounds like a good idea. I will have to try it!
