Happy single or in a relationship

I’ve come to the sad conclusion I’m happiest single. I just don’t know how to deal with other people outside of being friends. I say it’s sad because i feel I’m missing out on something everyone’s supposed to experience.

How do you feel?

FOMO can be really bad for you. You can't experience everything in life, and getting down about missing out on life can be destructive because there will always, always be stuff you just don't get to do. As long as you do get out there & experience joy, friendship, new challenges & adventures, then you have nothing to apologize for.

You should do what makes you happy, and if that's being single, there is nothing wrong with that. Don't compare yourself to other people as if there is some great tally of what you should be doing with your time.

I've been single since 2010, and I hate it. I have only one friend. Women avoid me in person. I have found a only three women to date on-line. But after a few months or so, they dump me.

My point is this. Be glad you enjoy being single. I wish I could enjoy it like you do.

in a relationship, you are expected to act and live a certain way.
You have to make a big deal about all these "special" occasions like birthdays, christmas, valentine day, your anniversary, Columbus day...

Or suppose you are doing all the right things but then suddenly the other person decides they are bored and wants to move on.

Then there is the family thing. Your partner's family won't like you, your family won't like your partner, it ends up a mess. "you could have done so much better". What they fail to mention is they will never think anyone is good enough.

There is a reason the divorce rate is so high.

single = giving equal care to all close friends
dating = giving more care to your partner and not much for your friends as the partner is priority

    • Sounds burdensome, dosen’t it?

it depends, if they give that same amount of care back then it wouldnt feel, but if not then it would feel burdensome, hence why having equal care for close friends is what i prefer to do

That's awesome! For me, I was the happiest in 2016. I was in so many relationships, and I learned so many things. Not to mention that 8 people wanted to be with me that year. I enjoyed the transition between singlehood and being in relationships. That was until I met my fiance for the first time.

I prefer to be single! Don't compare yourself to other people, nor allow yourself to be de defined by your relationship status. You are a whole, and complete person on your own just the way God made you. You don't need another person to complete you.

The only perks to being single is being able to fool around with multiple girls and not having to do emoji texting with your girlfriend.

Otherwise it sucks. At least for me. I feel depressed and alone and usually resort to lots of drinking when I'm single. I've been with my girlfriend for over 2 years and I never want to go back to being single. Coming home from work and seeing your girl there, happily greeting you just melts your heart. Bonus points if she cooked something.
