Hallucinations after high dxm intake?

I was recently hospitalized for ODing on cough syrup. I was having hallucinations for the next week until I was put on anti-psychotic medication.I know other people that have been hospitalized for cough syrup abuse and they never had hallucinations. I'm wondering if I have some sort of underlying mental condition or if it was it was just the syrup. I'm 118 lbs 5'8 female and I injested about 1200mgs of dxm.

Anyone else experienced hallucinations afterwards or know someone who has? I mean like feeling like your sober but seeing things that you believe are real until you are told they're not real.

I know someone who had the same experience 2

I had a very similar experience from dxm and crack cocaine in 1997.

Yeah it was afterwards when I was sober I was hallucinating. Recently got out for meth too where I was hearing voices. At the time I thought the hallucinations were real but then I look back at them and they didn't make any sense. Hoping that staying sober will help me rocover, thanks for your comments!

Yeah, DXM can make you hallucinate, I would say find a better drug to take, if you want hallucinations try lsd or shrooms, much safer; you took like 10X a dose you should have, were your hallucinations with open eyes? Because at a decent dose the hallucinations would be more closed eyed, and if you are trying to get the dissociative effect, I still think you ingested too high a dose, if you still plan on drinking cough syrup, get info from erowid where you can find first hand accounts and can adjust your dose accordingly. \+DXM is bad for your liver

and psychosis following high ingestion of serotonin modulating drugs like dxm, the problem with this is if you are given antipsychotics, sleeping pills, etc from a psyc it can have a further effect on your neurotransmitter imbalance, just hang in there. My bros entered a drug induced psychosis (due to meth however... so don't know how accurate I'm being) sleeping pills and antipsycotics with varying effects, watch out for the schizophrenic diagnosis, both my brother and his partner in crime got that, now for a while they will be ok, then start hallucinating things (mostly demons and "stars" brights spots that are scintillating) at which point they are sent to hospitals for treatments, and by treatments I mean sleeping tranquilizers + antianxiety + antipsycotics- cocktails to mess your body, I've seen my brother after he returns from these places he stares into space and drools. It has become a cycle that is regulated by prescriptions costing ~1800-3000/ month for the medication. Stay informed about what you are on and it's side effects

Did I sound like I was bragging? Douche bag, I'm more so concerned about my health. Don't sit there and judge something you've never experienced
