Halloween? what to go as?

Not really is it normal. But more will you help me?
Im 21 and only just started going out, been asked out for Halloween fancy dress! But as ive never even done it.. Ive no idea and don't want to look like a kid :/ I hate being the center of attention so dressing up like adults do in skirts and things is hard for me.
I was thinking of going as a cat? stupid? I got a vest top which has a very nice cat pattern print on. I need some bottoms to go with this tho and cats ears then some make up?

But I also saw some leggings with skulls and roses on and a vest top to match. But that wouldn't be 'fancy dress' and my sister said id feel left out.

So please help me? no fucking about, I want advice please :(

    A software pirate. A cross between a historical (or rather, Hollywood) pirate, and an (equally Hollywood) hacker.

    So start with a normal pirate costume, then add geeky looking glasses, a hoodie (hackers always wear hoodies, not sure why) and a bandoleer of blank CDs.

    Go with the Gothic Lolita theme, it's thematic and you'll look elegant. Add something like rotting flesh prosthetics if you'd like to go more toward Halloween-y.

    You can go as a 'gold-digger'. Wear clothing that's similar to gold in color and carry around a shovel. Some people might get it,some won't.

    The easiest is being a ghost, get a bedsheet and cut eye-holes into it.
    But if you're feeling particularly creative,you can head to the halloween costume aisle and peruse something that may strike your fancy. They might look cheap and unattractive but you can definitely 'tweak' and 'modify' the costume.

    The cat idea is fine - go with whatever you feel comfortable in and have a good time. Stop worrying so much!

        Why not? If there are now rules for Halloween costumes I haven't heard of them. Go for what you feel comfortable with
