Guys, why is he divulging so much?

I have recently befriended this guy I work with but we only talk to each other in short intervals. It hasn't gotten to the point yet where we hang out or even talk to each other outside of work.
The odd thing is that every time we talk he divulges pretty personal information. I do see myself joining in on this behavior a little bit but I still leave every conversation thinking, "Did he really just say THAT to me?".
I mean, two minutes into our very first conversation and I was hearing about what he he'd like in a woman. The next one was personal stuff about his past...is this normal? Guys, what is your take on this dude?

    I never said I was bothered by it. I was just curious on some possible insights into the behavior. It felt as though he was advertising himself, but I could only guess and I wanted some other opinions.
    I still only talk to him at work but he has toned down the personal talk a lot.
