Guys: why do you like it when girls talk in a baby voice??

So all through high school I noticed girls using some baby voice when they would talk to a guy. Not a lot of girls, but enough to notice a pattern. My cousin, being one of them, would act and talk normal with us girls, but as soon as some guy (of any age) came she would turn all vulnerable and childish. It annoyed the hell out of me! But guys seemed to like it. They would talk to her all the time. They would ask her out. I never understood it! I mean it's like a father-daughter relationship. That's gross. Anyway guys please help me understand.

It makes me feel strong and needed. 23
It's adorable. 52
It makes them sound sweet and innocent. 63
All of the above. 78
I don't like the baby voice. 152
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Maybe it's not the voice. Maybe it's the things she said in her babyvoice.

Baby talk? its one thing to go up to a dog or baby and do that, that's OK with me, but if you do it to me, I am going to assume either you're immature and dumb, or that you are insulting me. either way, I wont want any part of it.

Have some Intelligence and maturity please (But don't be boring), Although feel free to have fun at parties ;p
    (yes,Even THAT kind, lol)

It's incredibly common in Japanese culture. Personally I think it's pretty nauseating, but I can see how it could appeal to a masculine sensibility.

On the contrary, it sounds weak and needy. I don't really like it, but I can't say I've really noticed it either.

I have noticed A LOT of my friends talk to their boyfriend in a voice that is either a baby voice, or a higher pitched, child like voice. I have never understood it but it has never seemed to fail. My best friend who is confident and rather serious does it around her boyfriend but it doesn't fit with her personality. I know my brother hates it when his girlfriend does it. I've heard many guys say it makes them sound immature and unappealing.

I'm 28 and my husband, also 28, prefers that I talk in a baby voice because he thinks I sound happier. He says I use a "tone" when I speak normally which comes across very bitchy and abrupt even when I'm not saying anything mean. I don't always use the baby voice only when he's upset or angry mainly because I hate the baby voice and I hate it when I hear other females speak like this. All it reminds me of is Jessica Simpson in Newlyweds

Its probably just the way she would flirt with them and so they liked it. I myself don't understand it but whatever... girls like that, do as they please.

I hate it when anybody talks in a baby voice; it just makes me want to smack them right around the head.
