Guys that walk around with pet bird on shoulder

I have noticed lately that a lot of guys (it almost always seems to be guys) walking around in public with a bird on their shoulder, (such as parrots, cockatoos, galahs, macaws or insert your colorful bird of choice).

Why do they do this? Is this their somewhat pathetic method of getting attention from girls? Or are they wannabe pirates?

For some reason I find it super annoying and find myself wanting to:
1. Set that bird free from their dirty, shit covered shoulders
2. See the bird bite them on the ear or somewhere
3. Startle the bird somehow, so it flies away never to return to a life of pet bondage & slavery

is it normal that I feel points 1, 2 and 3?

Guys that walk around with pet bird on their shoulder get bird shit on their back. Stop stressing and laugh at them.

Meh, leave them be, their lives are sad enough.... Or make them walk the plank, I really don't care.

On a related note. Chicks with snakes.

So they have a chick to walk around with them!

    Huh? Huuuuuuuuuh? *cricket noise*

    Dang.

Maybe they're lonely. Or love their bird so much. Or want to be one with nature (lol). But the bird must be free! Shoulders are not freedom! Well, like noid said, better than cages. What if the bird flies away? Hm...

The birds on shoulders usually have clipped wings so that they can't fly away.

    • And that's one of the reasons I dislike the whole 'bird on shoulder' thing.

  • My grandfather carries his parrot with him everywhere he goes. The bird has no problem saying things like "Loves me most!" to everyone else in the family.

Birds are dirty but some are probably smarter than their owners.

Better for the bird than it being left in its cage all day!
