Guitar hero fingers

I can't stop twitching my fingers around like I am plaing guitar hero whenever I have a song stuck in my head. I may move my fingers around on a urface or just my palm. I do it to anything to, Singing, guitar or drums. Just moving them up and down Pinky being the higher notes and thumb being lower.

Is this normal?

    Get a REAL guitar or go jerk off.

    At least with a real guitar, you can play other songs NOT in the game too. There are 12, I repeat 12, semitones per octave, not just 5 "notes" with a single "string".

    Why would people consider Guitar Hero a challenge? Why would people BRAG about playing an instrument with only 5 notes? Take a REAL guitar with 20 frets, multiply it by 6 strings, and you have 120 different notes there. You idiots are bragging about playing a toddler's toy!

    Do you realize how stupid you people sound bragging about this? Get some real instruments and start a band. You'll never cut an album with toddler's toys, so you have NOTHING to brag about.

    Odd... Its possible that prolonged usage has somehow cause your fingers/muscles to become conditioned into mimicking those patterns. You'd be better off trying to learn how to play for real.

    I do a strummy thing with my right hand whenever I hold a pick and I just pick whatever's present like the edge of a desk. Doing that weird finger thing just doesn't feel the same as a fret board with strings.

    OMG I do this constantly. I haven't even played that game in over a year and I still do it. I normally only use 3 fingers when I tap them because I played Tap Tap Revenge on my iPod even more. I thought I had got some sort of twitch or something. Its good to know somebidy else has this too. And I do play a real guitar as well. Its just a game, why do so many "real guitarists" feel threatened by it?

    Oh and I completely agree with SanityCheck... makes me sick that kids waste so much time perfecting a rhythm on 5 plastic keys when they could actually spend that time learning to play a real instrument. Sure its fun for a while but learning to play a real guitar is a massive achievement for anyone to complete over a lifetime. But whatever.

    I've played real guitar for 17 years and I can't help but randomly mime a scale or an arpeggio when i'm just sitting around makes life worth living playing a REAL instrument not a fucking game...

    @sanitycheck

    you must be able to play guitar huh, bet you went real far with that. These guys just have a hobby that hobby is a game that looks similar to playing a guitar and it's pretty enjoyable. Maybe with all your skill and massive brainpower you could realize that it wasn't about the game at all it was about him moving his fingers after playing the game or during day to day life.

    Ratherdashing this uncontrolled movement is generally considered muscle memory and you do it out of instinct. Something that you've done repeatedly like guitar hero will cause a similar reaction so it's normal. Have fun

    Yeah, you might play the plastic guitar a bit too much. I love Jim's suggestion above.

    Yeah, I used to play so much that I dreamt of the note tracks coming down the fret/ note thing. The notes i dreamt of sounded absolutely horrible. But I never had that happen to me except when I'm bored in class.

    OH MY GOD. I do this all the time and it ticks me off. I've even started inventing my own songs or playing to songs on my iPod. I'll just be in class or whatever and moving all my left fingers and people will ask what I'm doing and I get all embarrassed.
