Grudge holders

My parents are huge grudge holders. It's frustrating. I don't live with them anymore, but when I'm chatting with them, they often bring up my past and the people I hung out with in high school.

That was well over 10 years ago, and I have not seen any of these people in YEARS!!! I'm like WTF? How can they keep bringing up crap like that? And it wasn't even that bad. Compared to a lot of teenagers in today's world, I was an angel!

It doesn't make sense to me. Is it normal for people (parents) to hold grudges for so long?????

They are not people you need to be associated with in this life of yours... They are toxic and are clearly showing you they do not support you and see you as an object for their shaming to make themselves feel accomplished or proud.

No. They need to get lives and move on with them... Perhaps, they hold on to these events because they are jealous that they never got to do these things when they were young. If you haven't already and don't mind hearing the truth, you could ask why they do this.

Yhea. I got around this problem by silencing my parents when I was 16. Silence by blade. Man life's so good now though. You've probably already missed your window of opportunity seeing as though you sound like your in your 20's. The older you get the harder it is to murder them. Not from a physical poibt of view, I'm talking strictly legal here. When your younger you can plead diminished responsibility via age but later on life, we're talking about trying to prove whether you were insane or not and let me tell you, thats a prickly ballpark to be in.

I feel for you I really do.

I dont know, perhaps get someone else to murder them? I'd offer to do it myself but you know, two parent murder cases in one lifetime? They'd throw the book at me for sure, your better off asking someone else.

maybe if you eat their asses and don't stop until you reach their tongue. then they'd think you were crazy.

I don't know why but older people become really judgmental about things that aren't even their business. And they stop making new memories so all they have left are old stories that no one wants to hear anymore. Sounds like your parents are reaching that age.

Your parents seriously need to move on and see that you are not the same person anymore. Let them know that it bothers you that they bring up the past constantly.

    • Oh I have. Nothing seems to work. It really pisses me off. So I simply didn't talk to them for a week (I normally call every night or every other night), so maybe they finally took the hint. We'll see if/when they bring something up again. I know they still don't approve of me, and it pisses me off.
