Groups of them make me uneasy.

I have two really good black friends. One male. One female. They are like a brother and sister to me. But I have a problem being around groups of black people. My wife and I are invited to my two black friend's houses quite often: parties, holidays, dinners, etc. Is it normal for a white person to feel uneasy around blacks you don't know?

My life became racially integrated about 20 yrs ago: in my family when I acquired some Black relatives, I started a new job in a factory, and I joined a racially mixed church. To begin with I felt just a little uncomfortable when I was the minority, but it was just the fear of the unknown which I quickly overcame. During my "integration" I also had a delivery job in the inner city for nearly a year and most of that time I was the only white person in sight. I am happy to say I've never had a problem with a black person. I find that if you treat people with respect you can expect to get respect in return. Now that I'm more experienced and comfortable in integrated social settings I tend to gravitate toward minorities at work, church, parties, etcetera, to try to help them feel more comfortable and accepted.

Just a word of caution: Dont ever put yourself in a situation where you are a minority white among blacks. Historically speaking, majority-black populations in the world have always led to poverty, suffering, violence, and crime. Agree or disagree all you like, but if you want to stay safe, get the fuck away from them in general

Strange that an openly admitted Jew would say something like that. It's your people who started this whole bullshit integration nonsense anyway.

Pleeeaase. We didnt start the integration thing, that was part of a train that started rolling as soon as the slaves were freed, long before most Jews had even arrived. And you should also know, that most Jews today (even the disgusting mega-liberal ones) want absolutely nothing to do with blacks in our personal lives.

I suppose it's normal to feel uncomfortable when you're in a group of different people, regardless of what ethnicity you are.

Too bad you aren't adult enough to say, "I'm uneasy around groups of people I don't know." Adding the word "black" makes you a small minded bigot.

If this person truly was a bigot, they wouldn't even be friends with black people to begin with. You are clearly trying to a ride a high-horse you don't deserve to be on.

Well I've actually been around bigoted people, They are shameless about their contempt for other races/religions/nationalities. This guy does not seem like a bigot.

Yes, you can argue that he is ignorant and possibly a little racist, but don't you see that he's actually concerned that he has this phobia? He doesn't sound very pleased to be nervous around black people. He can recognize how irrational his own fears are. A bigoted person wouldn't be on here asking wither or not it's normal, because to them; it is.
