Got the stressies

So, everybody deals with stressful situations in life. I'm wondering how you guys cope, and if you have any secrets to dealing with stress.

I'm currently going through something incredibly stressful (I can give tha deets if you really want), and I'm struggling a little bit. So, I'm wondering what you guys do when you are super anxious or stressed to the maximum overdrive starting Emilo Esteves???

Any answers are accepted, even if they arent healthy lol.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Have a drink! It always helps me calm down, relax and start with restored energy and confidence.
Unfortunately this only works for being stressed out at home. You can't really drink at work now can 'ya, unless you are your own boss. In that case go for it.

My dad used to keep a drinks globe in his business back in the day. Whenever things got too crazy, he'd pour himself a glass of whiskey, drink, relax and then start solving the problem.

Oof! Thought about doing that- bottle of wine & a bath. Problem being that booze usually multiplies my emotions to the nth degree, and I've been feeling a bit emotional & down, so I think that might make it a bit worse.

It's definitely a good idea for someone who has their shit together, and you seem to have that down, but I dont think that would be the best idea for me right now. Thanks for the advice, though. You're the best! Too bad idk how to take apart an old fashioned carburetor or beat panels- I feel like that would help lol.

I just read what you were going through. Tough stuff... I hope you sort things out soon. Maybe drinking a whole bottle isn't the best choice in an emotional state, but still not so far that you need to get drunk to forget and go to sleep. You could have one glass and read a book.

Or simply go for walks and enjoy nature. I know, sounds stupid and a cliche, but it does help. Somewhere away from where most people hang out. Just sit somewhere, don't think of your problems, just soak in the view. It's one thing that helped me during the day back when I had it really bad.

About 2 years ago, I was engulfed in self hate and deep depression, alcohol was my best friend. I'd drink until my eyes got heavy, everything got dull, the pain was gone and I just dropped onto my bed and woke up 8 hours later with no memory of any thoughts before going to bed, no waking up and no dreams. It was the only thing that helped.
Back then I even lost interest in cars. I kinda neglected my cars, never got around to fix my old BMW, or even go for a drive for fun.

But if it's general stress, messing with stuff is a great stress reliever. I've de-greased and cleaned EGR valves, swirl flaps and washed the engine with a cloth, de-greaser and soapy water.
Making a cable organizer out of some wood and plastic straps and lacquering it for all of the loose wires behind my TV, satellite box and audio system was also nice.
Cleaning and detailing my cars is also a great way to relax. Just forget about everything and only think "Is that bit as clean and as shiny as it can be - no, so let's improve it."

And then boost my mood and ego by driving the clean as it can be car across town slowly as if she's a model on a catwalk. Bonus points for blaring 80s and 90s music occasionally XD

I'd take a boatload of xanax if I could get it, unfortunately, due to drug seeking derros in this country, it's not so easy.

      Any other suggestions?

I throw aside everything stressing me and watch YouTube. Then I have even more stress a couple hours later. Not a good idea. Very short-term solution

That's actually not a bad suggestion for me lol. My stress is due to something that's not under my control, so I'm not avoiding my responsibilities or anything like that. A little youtube might be a good thing! Any suggestions on what to watch?

& thank you for the advice <3 you're the best

Mug cakes usually calm me down. They're like a little single serve pick me up when life's worries creep up on me. There's also getting on a treadmill, setting it on a nice speed and just sweating the frustration away. I'm not sure if either will work for you, but they help me out.

I've actually tried cake and running at the same time twice. Choked both times. It's best done one at a time.

Masterbation is underrated for this and also sleeping more, sex if you can get it, music and exercise.

Thanks for the advice! I can just have sex, and I guess I should. I haven't had sex in like a week & I feel sorry for my poor man, but I just don't really feel up to it. I feel super anxious & nauseous & unable to sleep, so sex is sorta the last thing on my mind, unfortunately:(

Exercise is usually my go to for stress relief. It works really great, but I've been avoiding it lately. It's the very end of winter here (southern hemisphere) the weathers been utter shit & I've honestly been feeling like laying in bed & feeling sorry 4 myself lately, but you're right. I should get outside & go for a bike ride. It'll probably make me feel better. Thanks!

Your OP? Who knew you posted? Well hi anyways!

A lot of times with sex poeple are unsure about having it but almost always are glad they did after the fact. Same thing with exercise actually, usually unsure about doing it to begin with but glad you did afterward.

Since it seems like sleep and weather has been a problem for you, I'll be my fitness nerd for a second and give you some more recommendations!

For sleep I would take melatonin in tablets a half an hour before bed each night. Go a few months with it and then remove it and see if your body has adjusted. This helps me sleep SOOO much it's highly recommended.

For winter weather its likely your deficient in vitamin D like almost everyone is. Supplementing 2-5 IU a day of D3 will help immune support, energy levels, digestion, skin, muscle tissue and more. It's one of the best supplements to take!

There are other supplements that help as well but those are the two that I recommend most for the money to effect ratio. Also I dunno if its this way for everyone, but music literally is the best thing ever! I can control my mood with spotify and it helps me get excited for workouts, relaxed for sleep, focused to study you name it. I've got 80 playlists on spotify each with a specific purpose and I think that finding music you love and that makes you feel good can be a huge game changer. I would look in to that more as well if possible. Best of luck my good pal!

Yeah, I haven't posted a question in a million years & hi hahaha.

My feelings are really situational & not a chronic thing (you can read my comment to DIO, if you wanna know why I'm all stressed out), but you're probably right on about the sex & exercise.

I tend to sorta retreat into myself & want to be alone, so I haven't felt like having sex, but I should. My fiance is always super supportive & there for me, so I should have sex with him before I have to leave the country lol.

As 4 vit-D & exercise, I still do it a bit, just not as much. ..like, i still definitely spend time outside when it's sunny, walk the dog, ride my bike, just not as much, so idk if its seasonal effective disorder contributing to my stress, but you're right on the exercise thing- I need to have a solid work out & spend as much time outdoors as possible. That definitely helps.

I have a 19 hour(ugh!) Plane ride coming up in the next few weeks, so I'm definitely not going to be taking any sleep aids before then, because I'm hoping I can pop some pills on the plane & sleep then Haha.

But thank you so much for taking the time to give me advice. I really appreciate it!

Wow that's stressful I can hardly imagine. Situation stress happens and sometimes there is nothing you can do. I would maybe start melatonin after that plane ride if sleep is still an issue. Congrats on getting married as well. I'm over here can't even get a date so you should feel lucky!

Omg, it's so fucking stressful, holy shit! But, I'm gonna take your advice & get my butt outside tomorrow (it's supposed to be sunny) & go to the park & at least take a walk in the sunshine. We have actual wallabies at the park here too! I should just do some straya stuff be4 I go.

Hopefully I'll be able to sleep well after this is all over, but if not, I'll look into melatonin.

Thanks for the congrats! I do feel lucky to have found the right person. Lots of sex & it's like being on a permanent sleepover with my best friend Haha. I'm sure you'll meet the right person when you're ready!

Ugh- thanks 4 the advice & listening. I feel a bit better after venting on here, surprisingly & I'm sure I'll feel much better after getting up & moving around 2morrow. Maybe I'll even be in the mood for sex hahaha.

              Thanks:)

You can meditate, it really helps.
You can also have sex with your girlfriend, sex is well known to be a relaxant.
Taking a cold shower also works, as you feel calmer after.

What is the thing stressing you?

Thank you so much for the advice, you legit are one of my fav people in this cesspool

      - I will give the meditation a go, that seems like a really useful idea
      - I doubt any of my gf's will want to bang me. I do live with a hairy dude who gives me the sex, but I honestly dont feel like having sex at all. I feel bad for him, cause I'm super withdrawn & I feel like being alone lately
      - it's the end of winter here & I'm thinking i might jump in the ocean, since i wont see it for a while (this is a really awesome suggestion, actually)

      What's stressin me:
short story: applying for a marriage Visa & have to leave the country coz they might be making a decision

Long long long story (and bless you if you even read it)

I'm American, getting married to an aussie. I've been living in Australia for quite a few years, applying for my marriage Visa, which is a really stressful process becoz they require ridiculous amounts of info & it's super expensive. I have to switch visas a lot, but on the one I've been on for around 2 years, I have to leave the country every 3 months, which was amazing at first- mini vacations to new zeland & shit, amazing experiences, coolest shit ever.

After a bit of this, customs had questions when I entered the country, que entrance interviews with required documentation & financials, no guarantee that I will be allowed in, which makes it super stressful to leave the country...just like, makes me want to puke level stress.

So I just, JUST got back from one of these trips & my immigration lawyer tells me that I should probably fly to America, just in case they decide on my visa (he has reason to think that they might decide soon & I should leave just in case, no guarantee)

So I got a 19 hour flight, plus layovers & 3 other flights, about 36 hrs worth of traveling, no guarantee that they will decide on my Visa, not sure that I can get back into australia, my current Visa in australia running out, so I might get stuck in the US, people in some govt office making decisions about the rest of my life, time away from my fiance, getting kicked out of my own house & not knowing when I'm allowed to come back & having no idea what's gonna happen.

I've been laying in bed & feeling like barfing lately. It's a good thing to have a decision on my Visa, but it certainly doesnt feel that way right now.

I've vented so much. If you've read this all, you are so awesome & thank you so much!!

When I'm talking about sex, I'm talking about real loving sex. Not porn disgusting sex. When done well, it can help in a lot of ways, including physical and mental health.

Well, your situation seems a bit complex. I've known friends who had trouble with their visa too.
Even if you get stuck in one country or another, this is not like it was decades ago. Now you can still stay in contact with your loved ones and they can come to you by flight.
You should not worry about it too much, as worrying won't make things happen or prevent them from happening. Whatever must happen will happen, whether you're worried or not. So don't worry, it won't change a thing. Just live in the present and enjoy what you have.
        You'll always find a way.

I'm sorry about your situation. This experience would give me the heebie jeebies. Once my mind is in overdrive with heebie jeebie confusion, nothing can calm it down. When this happens, aerobic exercise is the best. I go running for 45 minutes. It protects my body, and makes me stay asleep at night.

Good luck with your Visa. Australia doesn't piss around. They have a Donald Trump strictness about immigration, except they are civil and polite about saying no. Regardless of the decision, I would love to have had your adventure. In that sense, you are very lucky. All the best!
