Ginger ale?

I'm not supposed to be drinking sodas for my fall color guard season. And that season has just begun. So my question to you lovely people, is ginger ale considered a soda? If you are a health expert or doctor I'd greatly appreciate your comments. Also I'd like any and all of your opinions!

    It's a soda. Where do you find it in the grocery store? It's not located next to milk or juices. Duh.

    It's actually considered to be more of a Mixer than soda.

    It is soda. What you can do is buy some sparkling water and soak ginger in it. It won't really be a "soda" more like a sparkling herbal infusion.

      It's unhealthy for you and we need to stay in good shape. Although I am sort if addicted to caffeine so I drink soda on a regular basis.
