I refuse to drive because I'm one of those crazy people who'd like everyone else to have a chance to live. But I've also been in a car driven by someone who was drunk, and I've also lost someone who meant something to me because she was hit by a drunk driver.

I don't know the answer. But I do know that a beautiful girl in a green dress is dead because of someone who drank. Actually, I do know the answer. Don't do it.

Depends on how intoxicated I am. I know my limits and don't take risks. If I'm too intoxicated I don't drive, period. That said though, I've driven non-stop coast to coast while smoking cannabis, and from Chicago to Sarasota while rolling. Never been in an accident in my life, not even almost been in one. I think the key is to know your limits, not just in terms of mind altering substances but in general when it comes to driving. I didn't vote simply because I didn't feel any option accurately describes my thoughts on the subject. =]

people doesn't necessarily have the means to get a cab or one might not be available

    • Who_Fan4Life

Ok, so that means if their isn't one available, then it's an excuse just to drink and drive? If that's the case, you either don't drink, or make sure you have a designated driver. Ya know, make plans based on what your circumstance is.

Thats no excuse, sit and wait until your sober, ask a friend who has not been drinking to drive, or don't f-ing put yourself in a situation where you don't have an option in the first place.

i wasn't justifying driving drunk. I only said that because that_guy_from_the_party said it like that is a no brainer and I was merely saying that it's not that simple. I myself do enjoy going out on the town, I'm 35, never had a DUI. What i usually end up doing is just sleeping on a friends couch, or having a designated driver.

I'm sad to say, I used to drink & drive a lot when I was a kid. All that changed 30 years ago. I was driving home from the bar and fell asleep at the wheel. I hit a parked car and ended up in the hospital for 3 weeks. My passenger didn't get hurt at all. The worst part about it was that my best friend in the whole world, got in an accident while drunk, a week later and died. I was in the hospital and couldn't even go to his memorial service. I kept asking, "why am I alive & he's dead?" Needless to say, I don't drink & drive any more.

Where is the "Drink and don't drive" button?

Cause that's what I do. When I go out to get drunk, I leave the car at home.

i would either risk driving drunk or sleep it off first then drive home.

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • None of the above. When I drink I just don't drive. If I'm driving I just won't drink.

1 thing i wont do is drink & drive. i was in very bad car reck with very old childhood friend of mine back in 2008 few years ago..she was drinking & driving & i was in the passenger side. WE got into the reck really bad & turn out the other driver who hit us was drunk too. It wasdef a wake up call! Its scary situation..:(

    Other:

I wouldn't even CONSIDER getting in the driver's seat after drinking. Not even to sit long enough to let it get out of my blood.

I know my body. If I drink I get tired. I WILL require sleep before attempting to drive.

Plus, many of you might not realize but, if you're sitting in the driver's seat after drinking, if the keys are in easy reach you can still get arrested.

Also if you sit in the passenger seat and turn the car on, you can still get arrested too. You might think "But i'm not driving" ... but it doesn't matter. You operated the car while drunk. That's all the court cares about.

Be smart and just wait before you even get in the car. Cos some states have really weird DWI rules.

One of my coworker's had one beer and let it sit. He was fishing for his cell and hit a curb. So he got a cop's attention and since he'd been drinking at all he got a DWI ticket.

He had to pay the court fines and then he had to PAY to get a breathalyzer put in his car. And he found out that on very very cold mornings it won't register that you're sober. So some days he had to call in to ask for a ride to work.

Personally, I don't drink. But even if I did, I wouldn't drive drunk. If I was alone and no one could drive me home, I'd definitely call a cab. Maybe I'd even walk to a nearby hotel and get a room for the night.

Whatever you do, don't drive drunk!

heh, sleeping in the car isn't a good idea. You can get what's basically a DUI for that. Even if the car isn't running. Even if the keys are in your pocket. Trust me, I know....I spent 4 days in jail, $750 in fines, $750 for a lawyer and had to take a 10 hr drug and alcohol class which cost me $160 and 10 hours of my life. And I didn't have a drop of alcohol, it was prescribed meds. I got sleepy and went to rest in a parking lot. Next thing I know I'm cuffed and stuffed.

I have driven drunk many times, in fact, every day for years, and I admit now, it was increadably stupid. I got increadebly lucky and never once hurt anyone or got a DUI.
Even when I was driving drunk, I new it was stupid but because of the state I was in, I didnt care.
I was just a stupid teenager. It is not worth taking the risk ruining your life and other peoples lives when there are simple alternatives.

c All my views on drugs & alcohol changed when I found GOD. He says that I must live my life soberly, so I do. It makes these kinds of questions a lot easier. In fact, it makes life a lot easier. I only need to do a little, and the blessings are always returned to me 10 fold. When I least expect it. I just take a step back and think, man that is SO cool.

A friend of mine is dead because he drove a drunk buddy home after a party, not wanting him to drive drunk. He was hit, head on, by A pill poppn DRUNK DRIVER. My friend wasn't drinking. RIP MIKE ADDY.
Oh- and if I was behind a wheel of a car drunk, the keys would've been in a house, and I went to the car to crash out.

I saw the accident, btw, right after it happened, and it so happens a friend and I had been drinking and driving, as we were going by...and didn't know who had died til later. Never drove drunk again.

My thing is, if you know you are going to drink, dont drive. Have a person who are not drunk drive for you. why the hell would you get in the car with someone who are drunker than you are... you might as well drive yourself instead of your friend. Makes sence!
