Get rid of the karma system!

I was never here before the karma system was put in place, and I'll admit that I can see a bajillion flaws between way the system was intended to be used and the way it is abused, but I honestly don't think that is really the problem at hand.

A lot of the DRAMA that goes on here has more to do with alternate accounts than it does thumbing. My opinion wavers on that issue, mostly because the trolls here are fun, and the site would be boring without them.

However, a lot of the abuse of the karma system wouldn't be possible without alts- people upthumbing their own comments, people down thumbing random comments 5 times using alt accounts. That shit honestly doesn't effect karma that much; it would only matter if you were a user on the brink of having your comments limited due to more down thumbs than up, or if you were a brand new user.

What gets on my tits is the abuse of alternate accounts...users accusing one another of having them, people using them to abuse the karma system, people using the possibility of alts to create unnecesary suspicion, people claiming to be other users that they obviously are not, people using them to attack eachother....just a bunch of unnecessary drama.

Y'all know I act like a sarcastic cunt here. I appreciate other users who do the same. I never take what people say here very seriously, could care less about my thumbs status. The only time I've gotten irritated, is when I have seen a user abuse alternate accounts to go after other users for no reason whatsoever. Making jokes is one thing; attacking people who have admitted that they have anxiety or social problems and are concerned about being abused here is quite another, as is attacking people's personal lives. In my opinion, that's the lowest of the low and sick as fuck.

Permanently blocking someone is just a bit yucky as an alternative, and some OPs don't really care too much about comments to hide any (OTHERS CARE TOO MUCH AND BLOCK MY AWESOME STORIES).

I agree the system in place either needs a lot of work or a better alternative though.

i haven't had bad karma in almost a year but i think they should wipe the slate clean let everyone start fresh with the karma system and buy themselves some time to think up a new system before everyone starts screwing each other over again

Keep the Karma system. It just feels good to thumb up the good stuff, and thumb down the sick stuff.

I dont even know how to use it because I never liked the system anyway..
