Gentlemen, how old were you when you could grow a proper beard?

21 and my facial hair is really sparse, can't get a good mustache going.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I did not start getting proper facial hair until my mid 20s. I am 27 now and my facial hair is still filling in. Some people develop facial hair later than others. A good person to ask so you can get an idea of what your beard growth will be like is your dad. Genetics play a large role here.

I'm 26 and the hair on my face doesen't get thicker than that on my legs :/
My dad was able to grow a full beard when he was way younger than me, so you can't really rely on that either.

18 for a full beard iirc.

Maybe it's natural for you to have very little facial hair?

Not quite sure, but I think by 16 I was sporting a full one with no sparseness. I'm afraid your facial hair is partly down to genetics and how you treat it.

A proper beard? As distinct from an improper beard?
