I have been dating this guy for a while, no talk of marriage but its a possibility. He is gorgeous...but his brother is butt ugly! He makes Napoleon Dynamite look hot. At risk of sounding shallow, what are the chances the kid will get my boyfriend's good genes if we mate? It could come out looking like the ugly brother... is ugly dominant or recessive? His parents are normal/average as are mine.

      Both brothers are smart so hopefully smart will be a given. I like Keanu he may not seem deep but HELL if Id have sex with Bill Gates!

    All I can say for sure off the top of my head is that your hypothetical child's odds would definitely be better than 50%.

    Unless the brother actually has some specific genetic deformity than "ugly" is not really a single trait, it's a combination of things, as are good looks.

    It's extremely difficult to tell how an infant will look before it's even conceived. You gotta look at a lot more than just one male In the Line though.
