I am male: Men have higher sex drive than women 7
I am male: Women have higher sex drive than men 1
I am male: Men and women have equally strong sex drive 4
I am female: Men have higher sex drive than women 4
I am female: Women have higher sex drive than men 4
I am female: Men and women have equally strong sex drive 5

I would have said males have a higher sex drive, but it looks like women are becoming more promiscuous these days, so id say maybe equal, some women can be sluty sluts!

    • Was it reflected in any of these aspects of their sexuality?
      -willingness to have sex
-higher frequency of sex or easier availability, fewer refusals
-frequency of masturbation and/or sexual fantasies
-larger numbers of sexual partners, in reality or in desire and/or more promiscuous behaviour
-sexual openness, being more liberal in attitudes or behaviour
-more frustration when being without sex?

The FACT is that males can get aroused within 30secs (or less!) and females may (generally) take about 10mins (again FACT)

So since you asked a question and implied another! I'll answer both.

Both men and women have the same sex drive at different ages in their life.
Men will get more easily sexually aroused (and therefore more often than women) since men get aroused in seconds not minutes!

Therefore the others comments on masturbation is NOT because of boredom and therefore guys win! Its because guys just need to brush past their penis (technical term is preferred since I'm a guy) and that's all it takes to get them aroused! Either that or a single look at one thing. Women take a bit longer and therefore don't masturbate as much.

I've rambled to make it clear! Hmm was that clear?

    Edit://

Oh I forgot to tell you why this is so.

Guys have an outy, girls have an iny

    Have a nice day :)

Dappled pretty much nailed it. Yeah, it depends on age. I don't think it's as acceptible for women to be seen as having a high labido. And in my experience, women are less likely to talk about masturbatory habits. And when their sex drive kicks in, hopefully their partner isn't burnt out on life.

It varies with age. Over a lifetime, though, I don't think there's much difference between the genders. I do think women feel they have to be seen as more demure than they are, though.

indeed. when i was in my teens it was taboo for girls to talk about masturbating. the society norm was for us to be hard to get, and the guys to be manwhores. girls who put out were sluts.

so women didn't often come to terms with their own sexuality, and feel more open about it, until their 20s-30s, depending on the woman.

i think that may change though, as it's becoming more and more popular for girls to express themselves sexually.

It's going to be interesting to see how it pans out. There have always been male dominated institutions which have suppressed female sexuality and I think there's going to be some element of the male psyche that's going to want to keep imposing this. We're scarily insecure about some things.

Maybe, all things being equal, men will develop too. I think we're already becoming much more female. Ironically at a time when women are becoming less female. Maybe there'll be a flip. It's not something I know much about so this is all just me talking off the top of my head, by the way.

I think it's a myth that men want to suppress women's sexuality, If anything, we want them to enhance it so we can get laid more often.

Ahh, I'm not sure. Some men want women to be subservient to them and not to enjoy sex because there is the threat they'll roam and not be a faithful "mother".

It's where things like female circumcision come from and, to a lesser extent, the succubus myth, or the idea that women's sexuality is a kind of madness or lunacy driven by the moon.

So list all these men that fell that way, otherwise without proof I could equally assert that Jupiter is mad out of jello. I care not about rumors and suppositions. I don't care if it WAS true in the past.

i don't think it will reverse so much as... perhaps just balance out?

    • Interesting point. Do you think that an "average" single woman without a sexual partner feels the urge to masturbate as often as the "average" single man without a sexual partner provided that they (our average man and our average woman without a partner) are of the same age?

I can only really go off discussions with friends. If me and my male and female friends are average/normal then men do it more often but for odd reasons that are nothing to do with libido.

My female friends do it when they're in the mood. My male friends do it when they're in the mood but also when they're bored (which at least doubles the total).

        • Thanks for explanation. I do not have a wide circle of friends who would talk to me about it, so your post is very informative and it has broadened my horizons because when I was younger I used to have more friends than now but never had they mentioned boredom as a reason for masturbation. Different people, different motives I guess. And these online discussions are great because they can help us share experiences and motives which we would never have the chance to share with people we meet in person.

Ahh, you're welcome. This is one of the reasons I think this site is here. I really like this kind of post because I can give a 100% honest answer to something that someone genuinely wants to know. There used to be more of this type of thing on IIN back in the old days.
