Gays/bis: monogamy or no?

I am wondering what my gay brothers and sisters (bisexuals count) feel about this. It seems like a majority of gay relationships I've witnessed end up being nonmonogamous, and I'm hoping I'm wrong about that haha.

So: what kind of relationship are you looking for?

Monogamy is the only option 11
I'd consider an open relationship 4
I'd prefer an open relationship 4
I can't do monogamy 0
Relationships? Fuck that. 5

Everyone is different. It's all about knowing your own likes, dislikes, boundaries, and limitations.

For example, though I'm not gay/bi, I've always felt monogamous. Polygamy/polyamory never seem appealing, even having too many friends was a headache for me.

So really, it all depends, and it doesn't matter if you're homosexual/bisexual or not. If you need to experiment, try it out. My gay friend was always monogamous, but he's trying out polyamory because the guy he's dating is poly, which in his case is just having sex with all his friends. He likes it, but I can tell he misses being monogamous and the partner he has may not be right for him since he complains; but we'll see.

I was just wondering because gays are statistically more inclined to be open to nonmonogamous relationships, and it seems like a lot of gays i know simply can't be monogamous because they have become too accustomed to the stereotypical gay lifestyle of having sex with whoever "because why not?" and are now addicted to sex. If for some reason they can't get it from their partner for a day then they have to fuck someone and therefore go for the open relationship.

I'm sorry to hear about your gay friend... That's really sad.

I... honestly don't think that "stereotypical gay lifestyle" people always slap on gays is really a "gay thing".

There are also straight people everywhere who are party animals, who have casual sex with people they barely know, who are hooked on drugs. If you want to see this for yourself, head to your nearest university campus.

Gay or straight though, people who live that life are usually single, and typically very young. It's not "non-manogamous" if you are single, it's just having an active sex life with lots of NSA sex.

I will say that I think gays are somewhat more likely to remain single into old age. We seem less likely to settle down compared to straight people. Plenty do though, there are happy monogamous gay couples everywhere.

Yeah it didn't start with us by any means, but it is a label that I've seen many people embrace. A lot of gays that i know consider monogamy a straight person thing, and that gays are more "free" because they have thrown off the shackles of convention and can have sex with whomever they want. It's the influencial people who change these norms, like Dan savage.

Yeah I'm more asking people who do want relationships; why i put the option of saying fuck relationships.

Ah, then that's probably how his boyfriend is.

I wouldn't be as upset if my friend was already poly, or if he even had a choice in the matter; instead, they were monogamous for the first few months, and then the guy reveals he's poly and set up all these rules my friend was uncomfortable with. He forced himself to try it, and eventually got use to it. I was supportive, yet angry at the same time since something like that should have been discussed sooner, but he assured me that's he's okay. Ugh, the poly lifestyle is fine, but how that guy went about it pissed me off.

Yeah that definitely is a one sided relationship. If he isn't enough for his boyfriend and he wouldn't even discuss something so important first they really shouldn't be together.

It's really sad that people let their hedonistic tendencies go unchecked for so long that they just can't change

Other than the "gay/BI" part, its no different than a straight person. Their views on monogamy are the same, and as varied as anyone else. It depends on the individual if they are or not. Being gay or Bisexual doesn't make you any more likely to be polygamous.

Statistically it actually does. Gays and especially bi people are more often in polyamorous relationships, but you are right it is a personal preference.

So people have been getting persecuted and executed for centuries, and still are in some countries, over a "trend"?

Girl bye, you're stupid. If being gay was something one could change, trust me there'd be no gay people in this world.

Happy #heterosexualprideday !! Boi or girl you must pretty stupid for saying that because really we can stop all of this gay crap you people cause. There's a reason why we came to this planet born heterosexual and stay like that till the end of our life. Stop trying to change the way we all do things for families I mean seriously it's just an opinion.

I know it's been here for a while I'm just expressing saying things such as gay people shouldn't even be like that in the first place, just stay heterosexual then we're all good I mean seriously for the sake of humanity whether it and when it goes down. This is my opinion so I think they should stay cool like that instead of trying to mess things up for all of us and for families.

You have no idea what you're ranting about. Have you ever even had any contact with a family with gay parents? Or any gay people at all?

"That is my opinion so I think they should stay cool" - but you're allowed to say whatever nasty shit you like, about something you have no idea about, eh? Can't hurt the precious princesses feelings...

"You have no idea what you're ranting about. Have you ever even had any contact with a family with gay parents? any gay people at all?" Sounds like you really have no idea on what your trying to say here now by just going on a rant like that saying this to me. Do you have no respect for other heterosexuals? Are you gay?

I'm straight, but not a bigot. The two aren't inseperable.

You should give it a try.

I have worked with a family with two dads. I have gay friends.

You should apologize for your uninformed opinion, thank you.
Everyone's opinion matters, I firmly believe that, and your incredibly illogical opinion is a stain on our public discourse. Come back in a few years when you can put yourself in someone else's shoes. Do you really think the thousands of gays that have been killed or have committed suicide where just falling prey to a "trend"?

You should apologize to society for your invalid and illogical opinion for that matter. I believe in what I believe and if you have a problem with that then you have a problem with society itself in which you put your shoes on everyday to be a part of. The "trend" you state of was what I was pointing out to as an example. I believe that everyone has their own opinion into this matter.

Please explain to me how my sexuality is illogical. Go ahead.

Also my society is totally okay with it. So okay that i can make the state recognize it by marrying someone of my same sex.

The male g spot is up your ass dude, this has been proven. How the fuck would that happen evolutionarily if being gay is a trend?
