Gays as failed heterosexuals. iin?

To your mind, what percentage of homosexual people are failed heterosexuals?

I think they are in the minority, and yet I do believe they exist.

ps.: Don't laugh, but this question came to me after rewatching "Buffy, the vampire slayer". It seems to me that Willow, a girl from this series, who had struggled for a long time with heterosexual relationships and, possibly because of it, turned to other girls, could be seen as a failed heterosexual.

Opinions?

I think all gay people are failed heterosexuals. (100 %) 6
I think most gay people are failed heterosexuals. (75 - 100 %) 1
The majority of gay people are failed heterosexuals. (50 - 75 %) 3
I think it's less than half, and yet a significant number (20 - 50 %) 12
I think its a minority, and yet they do exist (1 - 20 %) 28
I don't think they exist. (0 %) 35

I don't see how you could force yourself to become gay after failing with women, unless you were already bi-sexual.

I think they feel it's easier just to be a homo. They get tired of rejection and just settle for having their fudge packed?

  • Probably very few. I never did figure out how romantic or sexual relationships worked and have had awful experience with those things but I have never felt interested in men because of it even though I will admit I have lost interest in those things altogether.

Humans have sexual needs... and if you dont get it one place and the other is giving then you gonna trick yourself into being homo.... I happen to be a failed homosexual.... no gay guy wants me... but all girls like me ....crazy

Willow was sort of a failed boy. That's too bad.

I don't think they exist. If at any point in your life you suddenly turn gay, I think you were always just gay or bisexual and were looking for an excuse to come out of the closet. Or into the closet, if it's the other way around.

I can't say I like your terminology, but I can see that for SOME (note the emphasis) homosexual people, it may be environmental factors over biological ones. But I can equally see the exact same thing as homosexual people trying to be heterosexual in order to avoid the stigmatism that comes with it.

I don't really get the logic behind "failed heterosexuals". Being gay is much more difficult than being straight. Also, your gender preference might indeed change if you had lots of negative experiences with one gender, but then you have been bisexual all the time.
