Gay stereotypes

Did you know that gay stereotypes used to be completely different? So there's no reason to follow stereotypes like so many gay people do. It is a problem because for a lot of people who value "manliness" those stereotypes are TERRIBLE! So people validating these stereotypes make bullying and homophobia so much worse! is it normal to think that gay people shouldn't go out of their way to embody stereotypes?

How do you know they are going out of their way? Who is to say that they aren't naturally girly, frilly, frou frou little sons of bitches? Who is to say that they really aren't feminine as all hell?

In my opinion, though, I think that whoever is in the top counsels of the gay rights movement that thought that dressing men up in glitter, tutus and fairy wings and parading them down the public streets with their "WE'RE HERE, WE'RE QUEER AND OMG GTFOVER IT" attitude was somehow going to sway the minds of those that are opposed to gay civil rights needs to get fucking fired for his sheer stupidity.

If the gay rights agenda wants sympathy, they should make it more of a point to prove to the conservative constituency how much LIKE THEM they are rather than how much different they are.

This is Bob, he works at an office just like you. He gets paid shit, just like you. He drives an old economy car home from work, just like you. His car breaks down, just like yours, he gets a taxi home, just like you but instead of going home to a bitchy wife who is going to interrogate him regarding where he was and that he is an hour late, he goes home to a bitchy husband.

Just my thoughts, though. I don't think it is right to tell someone who they ought to be if they are not harming others, but if you're flaming so hard that the smoke detectors go off in every room you stand in, you might want to tone that shit down a little.

The only time I think its kind of dumb is when a person comes out, and suddenly starts acting this way. there is a difference to me between a natural personality and when someone tries to act like something they are not.

"People validating these stereotypes make bullying and homophobia so much worse" is just another excuse to blame people for being oppressed.

Yeah, NeuroNeptunian is right. In high school, I had a friend who was very flamboyant, and no one can tell me he was putting on an act. That's just the way that he was. He wasn't following any stereotype. I also knew a guy who was gay, but you couldn't tell by just talking to him. People are different, gay are not, and some are just more feminine or masculine then others.

  • Odd, you think if people didn't want to be stereotyped, they would stop acting like their stereotype....

I remember 80s Calgary where being anything not white was not always appreciated, people telling me they would like black people more if they would stop acting so "black".

They/WE weren't acting any "way". We were and are just being ourselves. Gay is same way...they are just being.

Of course there's gonna be idiots acting like somethhing they're not but that is not gayspecific. There are idiots action like jeresy shore idiots. There are white boys trying to talk like they lived their whole lives in JA!

    Idiots be idiots.

Well so long as there are others gays acting like that in the media etc, younger gays will copy because that's what they would perceive to be 'normal'. Like as a young boy, you watch TV and men go to work, play sports, do rugged shit, so you grow up and act out that way of life as you've grown up thinking its normal.

The psychologist said that they have an identity crisis. Now I'm probably gonna be slammed for this comment, but those that will be doing the slamming are the ones that are like that, or their brothers/sisters/parents or friends..

  • Your problem is you don't relax, and by gosh did you know that relaxing is fun but also just as relaxing. So stop this impossible problem stuff that is happening. Right now, and keep up the good work.

They shouldn't, I have yet to meet a gay man though who's a buff masculine, say, mechanic, but if I do I might feel a little better about gay people
