From which decade is the oldest song you own?

Simple enough. From when is the oldest song on your computer, iPod, phone, whatever? I.e. if you have some Bessie Smith, your answer is probably 1930s, The Beatles 1960s, Spice Girls 1990's, and so on...

If you own classical music please could you ignore it for the sake of this poll (although feel free to comment on it if you want).

1920s 30
1930s 6
1940s 10
1950s 21
1960s 27
1970s 6
1980s 11
1990s 7
2000s 2
2010s 1

        • It sounds like a serial killers theme song though lol, everytime i hear it i have this image of an old man in overalls cutting up a body in his garden shed with this song playing on an old gramophone lol (that would make a great movie scene i think). Fallout rules.

Bioshock is awesome, you should play it. That's where I first heard the song If I Didn't Care by The Ink Spots :)

I'll have to listen to that song. I'm honestly not that big into video games. Besides, I've watched my brother play Bioshock before and I'm certain I'll watch him play Infinite when it comes out. I've seen enough Bioshock to be satisfied.

Is it fair to exclude song/music that is older than the 20th century by saying no classical - (which is just a specific musical form and period)? Anyone listen to celtic and other folk music for example? Its your poll but I'm just saying.

    • I was purely interested in "popular" music (not implying classical music is unpopular, just that if half the people here have Pachelbel's Canon in D Major in their collection, half the answers would be 1680s). I just didn't want the results to be skewed.

  • Avant-Garde

The oldest would probably go to my Classical Collection spanning many different movements. But since it's not a option here, I'll put them back in the chest:(

In my personal collection it would probably be 80's-90's.

"Always" by Irving Berlin 1920. I also have "You Made Me Love You" that came out somewhere in the 1890's, but I have Judy Garland's version, so i guess that doesn't count. About half the songs on my ipod are between the 1920's-1960's, haha:D I also have old radio shows like "Suspense" and "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" fromt he good ole' 40's. No one can rock the oldies like me!

Holy tacos. According to wikipedia, "muggle" was a slang term for marijuana, of which Armstrong was "an enthusiastic user". This changes everything.
