Frizzy poodle perm - i left her because of this iin?

I used to have a long term partner (9 years) who had the most beautiful long, sexy, wavy, blonde streaked hair.

Then at about the 7 year mark she went through a phase of getting ULTRA FRIZZY POODLE PERMS.

To make matters worse, she had it cut in a mullet style (short on the sides, long and frizzy at the back) and dyed red!

I can't even... explain how bad this looked on her. It affected our sex life (I could only have sex with her in the dark and her hair reeked way too much like ammonia or some toxic chemical used to frizz her hair).

Overnight she went from being a gorgeous, classy, sexy woman (think something like Kate Winslett), to looking like a cross between a Juggallo and an Australian 'bogan'.

We broke up about 1 year later.

You did the right thing bro 8

I hope that's not the only reason you two broke up, but if your not married and her appearance really bothered you that much then it's probably better then marrying her and just not being fully into it anymore.. did you ever bring up that you missed her old hair? my boyfriend has said things like this too me, I've never had a poodle perm but most of our relationship I had super long hair and it's shorter now, the cut looks really good I get a lot of compliments but he said he just loves my hair and misses it being long sometimes.. not going back right away but I'm also not dismissing how he feels.. but that hair sounds horrible lol as long as your happy now

Oh this is great! I'm sorry bro, but at the point where you referred to her as a cross between a juggallo and a bogan, I near wet myself laughing.

Seriously though - did you actually confront her about it? Perhaps if you explained that you found her hairstyle offputting and explained why (ammonia makes me heave too) the relationship could have been saved.

It sounds to me like there were other issues involved, and you are using the hair as an excuse to absolve yourself of any responsibility for the breakup.

    • Yes you are right there were other issues involved. I'm glad you got a laugh out of it though.

Yes I told her that her natural hair (wavy and long) was beautiful... but no, she had to insist on those toxic smelling poodle perms... every 6 weeks. Somehow she thought they made her look more attractive (to a poodle maybe?)

I was exagerrating a bit when I said I left her because of her hairstyle. That was slightly trollish and I thought the usual suspects would take the bait (e.g. ellena / rose) and as usual they did!

    • And no I wouldn't go back, the relationship was over a long time ago. I think she's gone back to her previous hairstyle now she's in a relationship again and she looks way better for it.

So did you tell her how you felt about her change in hairstyle before you dumped her for it?

Eventually, the yuck factor ruins the world. Don't be yucky.

Now you're not usually vague in your responses! Do you mean yuck for his behaviour or hers?
