Friends just avoid me.

I was once very close with my friend but after I found out the I have some psychiatric problems, I told him about it and we try to solve that problem but slowly he stops wanting to talk to me and tries to avoid seeing me as possible, stop taking my calls and delete me from all social network that I have added him, whenever I ask him for the reason he just say nothing is wrong, after that slowly my other friend avoid me and they just find excuses to not wanting to talk to me.

Did I do something wrong, no one tell me anything, I got pervasive developmental disorder...

True friends are hard to find even for people with no mental health issues. Its not you, its them. The only person you can truly depend on is yourself.

People can be skittish around mental health issues. It's their problem, not yours.

A PDD (nice job not stating which one you have) isn't exactly something you can typically hide. Chances are they already knew something was abnormal about you.

That said, it's best to keep one's diagnosis to oneself. Most people have nothing anywhere near resembling a real understanding of psychiatric issues. You tell them you're bipolar, they think you're a lunatic just waiting to snap. Tell them you suffer from depression, they think it's all psychological and that it's easy to get over if you just think all happy-like.

As some if the others have stated, many people react badly towards mental health issues. We may live in more modern times, yet there's still a very strong stigma against mental health. Actually, There's a stigma against many types of health. Even with the information that is our there. It is best to play it safe and keep your health to yourself. Stop calling them your friends, because they aren't. It may hurt, but you'll be better off in the long run if you don't have them in your life.

same problem with friends and me having depression, they didnt know what to do, so they just left me be... it is normal in the circumstances you provide, however, if you are biologically balanced and friends are avoiding you, then, no, its not normal

when you say we tried to solve the problem. this seems a little strange. i don't really understand. Your friend tried to solve your problem for you? no wonder he drifted away. he can't solve it for you. that is impossible and way too much pressure.

That's sad. :( They weren't your friends to begin with. Keep your head held high. There are many more understanding people out there.
