Friend said dog death was worse than losing humans?

My friend lost her dog a few weeks ago. Of course I sympathise but shes been posting stuff like" he was my whole world" and " the day he died was the worst day of my life".
She lost her grandma last year and her husband died 3 years ago. It seems a tad disrespectful saying her dog dying is worse than her family. She talks more about her dog than she ever talked about her husband.
Of course I'm keeping this to myself.

Those who claim to like dogs more than people tend to be narcissists. They prefer the quite literal brown-nosing of a trained animal over normal human contact.

Correct, it goes for all pets.

The type to think pets are better than actual humans are those who can’t handle having to be equal with others. It’s why they so often don’t have lasting relationships, they can’t handle having to be on the same level as another person.

They have a sad need to be superior, and want no resistance or to make any compromise, just as in a relationship.

      I certainly don't think it's abnormal.

Many people form stronger emotional attachments to their pets than they do towards people. Totally normal.

Keep asking her to tell you about all the good memories and times with her dog... while providing an opportunity to do things with you (take her to lunch - and let her talk about her dog, go to the park - and let her talk about her dog).

Also after she has talked for a while; tell her that you care and ask her is their anything else you can do for her...

She'll pull out of it after a while - and you will have built a very solid friendship who will be there for you when you need it.

I attempted to compose a long, and well thought out response to your query, but unfortunately my phone ate it, and now I feel compelled to go off, and feel sorry for myself. I will, of course, attempt to return at a later time.

        It's awful, truly awful.

The only 2 people I grieved for more then my pets when they died were my grandfathers (i'm sure there are people I will grieve the same amount for when they die but they haven't died yet), I just don't feel as sorry for (most) people as I do animals.

I can legit relate to that. I don't think dogs are worth more than a human, if anything less. But a dog is the closest "person" I have ever lost and the first one I lost that I really had a relationship to, so for me that was the saddest too. Im not still sad, and actually it was much more like a halfway state of denial than outright sadness. I would feel it was right around the corner every time I got home and have had countless dreams of it returning back to life, sometimes permanently sometimes I knew it was a short visit

You never said that she claimed losing her dog was worse than losing a human, just that she talks more about her dog. Her dog was most likely a big comfort for her when humans in her life died which would make it an even bigger sorrow.
Either way it's most likely none of your business.

Humans are always worth more intrinsically than animals.

Funnily enough as a human supremacist I dont really have a high value on human life but it's way above animals.

When my animals die it hurts worse than with most people. But uf my mother or wife died that would be much worse.
