Friend only washes hair twice a week?

She claims washing it too often drys her hair out and that her hair doesnt get greasy (but i can see it does). IIN?

Do you think its just because she has damaged her that its rough so it never really "feels" greasy to her? I can see its greasy though...her hair is also very thick and the bottom of her hair never gets greasy, its only the top where her scalp is to about halfway down her hair.

Or maybe mind your own business. It's her hair, she doesn't need someone picking on her, whether you mean to or not. If she likes it, let her be.

Actually, it's bad to wash your hair everyday. Your hair needs natural oils to stay moisturized. They sell dry shampoo. It's something you put in your hair to help eliminate the look of oily hair, makes it look clean and fresh. Maybe you should suggest that she wear her hair in a ponytail so it doesn't look so bad.

If she has dry, thick, coarse hair then this is normal. It does not mean she is only showering twice a week, just washing her hair. They have things called shower caps. Leave her alone and get your own life.

    • Uhm, people talk about how nasty her hair is and I'm her friend so they think I'm weird. I can't take that crap.

Washing your hair a few times a week is perfectly normal and fine, and it's actually healthier for your hair if you wash it every so often honestly and here's why. When you wash your hair often, like everyday, the shampoo strips your hair of its natural oils, and it causes your hair to become very dry, and when it's very dry your hair is more prone to get split ends and being damaged.

maybe she should try different shampoo. try talking her into going to a hairdressing salon and see what they would recommend. who knows, they might convince her to wash her hair more regularly.

Washing your hair daily is actually VERY BAD for your hair. Although washing it twice a week is just gross.
Go for every other day. It will help to get out unnecessary oils and grime from the hair, but won't dry out hair and cause it to get over oily (to compensate) like daily washing does.

well, she's most likely going to think you are insulting, so you have to take care when bringing this subject to light. I do not wash my hair everyday, because it is very damaging to do so. I wash it every other day. When my hair becomes visibly oily between washings, I like to put baby powder all throughout my roots. It soaks up the oil nicely...It doesn't look just-washed fresh, but it helps...If she has blonde hair, she should use baby powder. If she has dark hair, she should use a bronzer powder(the kind without sparkles). She could also wear hats, or wear her hair in some type of updo...TRY THIS: one day, while you are with her, put baby powder in your hair and say you are doing it because your hair is greasy...maybe she'll pick up the tip for herself and you can take it from there.

I work in a hair salon, went to beauty school and more. I just wanted to clarify that washing your hair every single day doesn't damage your hair unless you generally have dry hair. Normal healthy hair can be washed every single day and will not become damaged even the slightest! If you find your hair gets damaged, you're either using the wrong shampoo, dying it too often, using heat on it too much or, its just naturally that way. Just thought I'd clear that up for you. :)

As for the girl, washing it just twice a week will leave it damaged. She needs to get a specific shampoo that will restore and moisturize it.

  • Omg! My best friend does the same thing!

  • Ya, you should be a good friend and point out to them. Be ready to reassure your friend that they themselves are not dirty, just the roots of their hair is.

Your friend will not take the news well and may even cry, but if you are kind about it, they'll get past any resentment.

Sounds like an intervention is needed. You may need a third opinion to encourage her to practice better hygiene.

  • Maybe she should suck my dick and I'll blow in her hair, then she'll wash it.
