Forever waking in a land of nightmares..?

I can't sleep
and when I do I have nightmares that i rarely remember but still wake up scared angry and more tired than when I went 2 bed.
I've tried deep breathing more physical activity I've been eating really healthy I've been going 2 bed early but nothing I've tried is working I've only had 4 proper nights sleep in the past 3weeks. Is this normal?

I know it's not normal and I know I should go 2 a doctor or sumthing but i don't want 2 worry my family they have a lot going on ATM

That is exactly what I thought...
...But, turns out, this person may actually have a problem sleeping.

I would tell your doctor, I wouldnt worry about your rents finding out, they care for you and would probably want to know.

You should have a sleep study done. Could be a sleep disorder. I have Narcolepsy and have found that if I go to bed really tired, I have nightmares when I first fall asleep 99.9% of the time. I'm not saying you have Narcolepsy, but you would be surprised at how much a sleep disorder can affect you. Worth looking into. Also, some sleep disorders start in teenage yrs. My parents never believed me when i told them something was wrong with me til I fell asleep driving to work one morning. My nightmares aren't things that seem particularly scary when u wake up and think about them. But right there, in that dream, it's the most scary thing ever. Hope this helps. Also, positive thinking before bed has helped me. Look at pictures of things you would want to dream about or visualize beautiful things. I don't watch scary movies at nite, or gory shows. It DOES make a diff. They say what u do the last hour b4 bed influences ur dreams. Good luck!

I've had trouble sleeping many night's before, and unfortunately still do. But it sound's like you're in a state of panic right now. So the first thing I will say to you is, calm down. These thing's happen. Right now, you have probably missed so many night's of sleep that you are (as it seem's you are) thinking about how you can fall asleep. You're subconsciously thinking about the anxiety you feel that you are not going to fall asleep, that you really aren't falling asleep, because it's really in your mind.

Try not to prepare yourself so much for falling asleep, because it's getting yourself worked up. You are trying way too hard, that it's subconsciously on your mind.

On night's when I really feel like I'm in dire need of sleep, and I find myself just tossing and turning, I usually just think of good thing's that I might want to do the next day. If that doesn't work, I take advil, or benedryl. BUT... don't take that every night. It's not good to become dependent on medication. You could also, try relaxing yourself before bed, by taking a bubble bath, massage your face a little bit, keep soft, soothing music on playing low, while you lay in bed, or sometime's even your tv to a show where people are quietly talking.

You need to steer your mind away from the thought that keep's you worried that you won't fall asleep. And if all of this doesn't work, you have really no choice, but to tell your parents, because you might really need to see a doctor if it's that severe.

Don't eat right before you go to sleep

Marijuana would both help you get to sleep and diminish your nightmares. It greatly diminishes the recall of all dreams, actually, no matter the subject matter.

  • I think there's a special drug called Hypnocil that prevents you from dreaming, maybe you should look into that.
