For those who do not support gay marriage, why?

This is only for curiosity's sake and is not intended to cause any arguments. Please be respectful when leaving comments.

Because it goes against my religious beliefs. 11
Because gay people spread disease. 3
Because I have had bad personal experiences with gay people. 2
I support it and want to see the results. 46
Because a gay couple cannot reproduce. 4
Because it is illegal where I live. 0

This was a pointless post, most of the comments are from people who support it -_- No good discussion.

    • I wonder if the users who do not support gay marriage are too ashamed to voice their opinions publicly because they are aware they're in the minority in today's day and age. Sort of like how it's taboo to be openly racist.

Although when It comes to racism, I'd say taboo is a bit of an understatement lol.

i don't "support" it, nor am i against it, because i don't get the point of it.. it's not as important as they're making it.

I think you have to be quite a dick to be against it. I mean, it doesn't alter your life in any way, but makes other people happy.

I do not support gay marriage because it is unnatural, disgusting, AIDS-propagating, AND it goes against my religious beliefs.

Was anything that I said untrue? Unnatural and disgusting are POV oriented, I realize that. But the last two, no one better argue with those. OP wanted opinions, OP got opinions.

Last one no one can argue with. But that's a moot point when arguing with a bigot.

      I am not religious.

Isn't religion supposed to be about tolerance and understanding?

When it comes to homosexuality, what would Jesus do?

Tell them to repent and be forgiven. I'm not for killing homosexuals or anything crazy, but the Bible is clear: sodomy is sin.

Based on your comments you only like to take the parts that are easy for you seriously.

What about the parts that say you are supposed to care for the poor and sick?

What about them? I'm sorry, but I have no idea how that relates to my comment. I visit nursing homes, bring people food who are laid up, and give money to guys who ran out of gas on the highway. I DO take the Bible seriously, all parts, even the parts that aren't easy to accept, like why not everyone is going to heaven.

No, condemning sin is not a sin. Being nitpicky, slamming people, and being overly sanctimonious; that is what Christ was talking about in that passage. Not closing our eyes and not recognizing and abhorring what is wrong.

christ would say to love your neighbor instead of condemning him & judging him. Dont be on the attack& ready to pounce and judge others. God loves eveybody, gay, straight or what have you.

I'm against gay marriage and straight marriage. Marriage is a pointless contract between two people that screws them over.

Considering how socially liberal this site is, I doubt you're going to get many responses offering a counter opinion to gay marriage.

In the bible it says to leave sinners sinning, or something along those lines, and worry about your salvation. I understand that homosexuality is against your religion, but there is a separation of church and state, and we can't just fix laws to fit your beliefs. We need them to fit human rights in general. Also, in the bible mixing meats with dairy is a sin and so is shaving. The bible was written in a different time and specifically writte for that time. The villages then weren't very large and there were less people, so to produce more thy wanted to make sure men and women reproduced. If Jack and Danny were getting it on together they wouldn't have had kids. Things are different now though, and it's my opinion that the bible shouldn't be taken with a literal interpretation.
This is not to offend anyone and if it does I am very sorry.

I think universal law would be to live and let live and not judge your neighbor.

This is why I don't like the state being in bed with this marriage argument.

Keep marriages confined to the private institutions and have the state only recognise civil unions.

For the same reason I don't support opposite sex marriage.
